.SHORT TERM.../Today through Sunday/

Big changes continue as the cold front has arrived in much of NE
TX. Low to mid 40s separate mid 50s and low 60s ahead of the
front with wind gusts now in the teens from the NW and guidance is
showing some more increase in speeds as the upper trough moves
overhead. A new lake wind advisory has been posted for TX/LA for
the day ahead.

The heavy rains continue to ease out of our cwa with the squall
line stretching from Alexandria to Monroe. We have just a few
parishes that remain in the overnight Tornado watch. We will
likely be updating to remove before the expiration. We have a big
day ahead clearing and cleaning much storm debris in the wake of
this powerful system. And Winter is fast returning with even the
chance for a bit more thunder and change over to snow in SE OK.
Perhaps into parts of Texas too, but no impacts as ground temps
have warmed considerably with widespread 70s yesterday.

Clouds and any further precipitation, mostly rain, will be ending
late this morning and early afternoon. Skies will be clearing mid
afternoon in the Texas and areawide this very early evening. A
1024mb surface high will be over us by midnight with light winds
becoming calm allowing widespread frost to form with temps in the
20s and lower 30s areawide. The southerly winds that follow will
begin a warming trend that will last into next week. However, our
highs on Sunday will remain seasonal or just below for mid
January. /24/

.LONG TERM.../Sunday Night through Friday/

The cold front moving through the region today will be gradually
returning back north into the area Sunday night through Monday as
perturbed southwest flow aloft sets up over the area again. Expect
the deep baroclinic zone associated with the front to foster
increasing moisture convergence and an eventual decent coverage of
showers by later Monday into Monday night. Relatively steep lapse
rates aloft and building moisture in the atmospheric lower levels
will allow for at least embedded thunderstorms and some of these
storms may be able to produce some hail as we head into Monday
night. Fortunately, instability during this time frame should be
mainly elevated above the surface and thus the risk for damaging
winds and tornadoes should be quite low. At least some potential for
showers and embedded thunderstorms will remain around in on and off
fashion through the bulk of next work week as the passing minor
disturbances in the southwest flow aloft cause the previously
mentioned baroclinic to meander back and forth (north and south)
across the Four State region. Temperatures through the time frame
will generally be above normal, especially in the southern half of
the forecast area, at least until Wednesday night or Thursday when
model consensus is good that a stronger cool push will try to drive
the surface cold front back to the south.

Aside from the risk of some marginally severe thunderstorms (mainly
due to a hail threat) through the early to middle part of the work
week, the only other threat that may materialize could be heavy
rain. This will particularly be the case Monday night into Tuesday
when models are trying to show a more solid convective signal that
could put heavy downpours on ground that is at least partially
saturated by precipitation over the past 24 hours. /50/

A convective line along a frontal boundary will move across the
region overnight with TSRA conditions expected from 11/06Z to
11/12Z. South winds 15 to 20 knots with higher gusts to become
southwest to west overnight behind the front. Expect stronger
winds in and around convection. Showers and thunderstorms to
diminish from the west with all areas clearing by 11/12Z. MVFR
ceilings forecast to linger through much of the day across most
TAF sites. Otherwise, northwest winds to increase to near 20 knots
with higher gusts on Saturday, diminishing to 5 to 10 knots after

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of south central
Arkansas, southwest Arkansas, north central Louisiana, northwest
Louisiana, east Texas and northeast Texas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight...

The risk of severe storms producing damaging winds and embedded
tornadoes will end by 7 am this morning over portions of Central
Louisiana and is over in all other areas already. Later this
morning and lasting through the afternoon expect gusty west to
northwest winds, gusting up to 25 to 30 mph at times.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday...

Isolated to occasionally scattered thunderstorms will be possible
in the region from late Monday through the middle of next week.
Some hail is possible with storms, especially Monday night, but
the risk of severe storms over this period remains rather low at
this time.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Activation of emergency managers, amateur radio operators, and
storm spotters, will be not be needed today after strong to severe
storms exit from Central Louisiana by 7 am.
