Winds have dropped below advisory criteria, therefore the wind
advisory will be allowed to expire. However, winds may remain
gusty for the next several hours before decreasing below 10 MPH
overnight.

.SHORT TERM...Today through Sunday...Fast moving shortwave trough
will move across Washington today driving a cold front across the
forecast area. Some rain showers will be possible across the Blue
mountains and more likely along the Washington Cascade crest today.
Otherwise the frontal passage will be mostly dry with just some
cloud cover. Winds will be the primary concern becoming windy across
the lower elevations by midday with widespread 20-30 mph winds and
gusts to around 40 mph. Winds will be a little stronger than that in
the Kittitas Valley so a Wind Advisory will be issued for that zone
through mid evening. After this evening through Sunday fair weather
is expected as a ridge of high pressure builds over the area.
Temperatures will be near normal north but above normal central
Oregon closer to the center of the ridge. Winds will be light with
just a few passing clouds. 78

.LONG TERM...Monday through Friday...Models in good agreement
through the period.  Southwest flow aloft will continue through
Monday night before a system moving through BC changes it to
westerly flow Tuesday.  The resulting strong zonal flow will produce
breezy to windy conditions across the area Wednesday and Thursday.
This flow also favors a chance of precipitation over the Cascades
and west to northwest facing slopes while the rest of the area
should generally remain dry.  A cold, deep trough is expected to
move over the region Friday. There are some model discrepancies in
the track and strength of this trough. The GFS shows less
troughiness while the ECMWF digs it down into central California.
Despite these differences, widespread rain is expected to develop,
especially over the mountains, Friday.  An associated cold front
should drop temperatures significantly by the weekend.  Daytime
highs will remain above normal through Thursday and fall to slightly
below normal by Friday.  Earle

.AVIATION...Previous discussion...06Z TAFS...VFR conditions are
generally in store over the region through Friday. The only
potential caveat is some early morning fog at PSC which could reduce
VSBYS to MVFR. However confidence is below average on its
occurrence. Otherwise, expect generally clear skies and light winds
overnight. Winds will increase during the day on Friday and become
gusty as a disturbance move across the area. Winds will gust in the
25 to 30 kt range during the afternoon/early evening hours. Winds
should begin to decrease overnight.
