A moderately strong and fast-moving short-wave upper trough will be
moving into northwestern OK Tuesday morning and across the state
throughout the day. The associated surface dry line is expected to
mix quickly and pass into eastern Oklahoma by afternoon. Forty to
fifty knot 850 mb winds are forecast immediately west of the dry
line over northwestern Oklahoma. Much drier air will also follow.
The result will be a very windy day Tuesday and a much lower
humidity across western and central Oklahoma lasting into
Wednesday. A wind advisory is probable for Tuesday in
northwestern Oklahoma as time gets closer to that period.
Additionally, fire weather conditions will exist on Tuesday when a
RFD may be appropriate for western Oklahoma. Beyond this event,
the MSLP gradient relaxes Wednesday while the surface cyclone that
was associate with the upper trough moves very rapidly into the
Great Lakes region. The relatively dry air will linger into
Thursday morning before the surface high pressure over the
southeastern U.S. brings the humidity north into OK. There is a
very low chance that showers/thunderstorms could form briefly
later Thursday along the weakening residual front in northern
Oklahoma from the system earlier in the week. Other than that, the
upper ridge builds again into OK from the southwest with
temperatures soaring again towards 100 degrees.
