.SYNOPSIS...
Rain showers, occasionally heavy at times, will continue across
the north through midday before drier conditions move in later
today over most locations. Another weak feature will bring a
renewed threat of showers on Monday over southeast Washington into
north- central Idaho. Temperatures will be significantly cooler
for the next couple days with highs only in the 60s to lower 70s.
Temperatures will rebound into the 70s for the rest of the week
with mainly mountain showers. There will be another chance of
thunderstorms by next weekend.

.DISCUSSION...
Update to the forecast for this morning to remove thunderstorms
and expand precipitation chances further south and west into the
Columbia Basin. There is a double barrel shortwave lifting
through the region this morning. The first was tied to the deeper
moisture which was responsible for the moderate to heavy rains and
thunderstorms overnight. Satellite reveals this first circulation
is shifting into NW Montana. Moisture wrapping around the backside
of this feature remains over N ID and N WA and the second
shortwave is providing the lift to enhance shower activity along
the Hwy 2 corridor from Waterville to Spokane. This activity will
slowly work to the north but a few hours slower than earlier model
projections. Winds will be breezy across the Columbia Basin today
with gusts of 20-35 mph but temperatures will be noticeable
cooler, only topping out in the 60s to low 70s. /sb

18Z TAFS: Steady rains and MVFR cigs will slowly lift from GEG-
SFF-COE between 18-20Z. After 20z...VFR skies are expected for
all terminals through 18z Monday. Winds will be gusty through
00-02z. Gusts of 15-24kts will be possible for all terminals. The
next shortwave swings into the region Monday bringing increasing
clouds to KLWS-KPUW and good shot for showers near or shortly
