.SYNOPSIS...Generally dry conditions and seasonable temperatures are
forecast through the rest of the weekend and through most of next
week. A weak system may bring light rain late Tuesday and Tuesday
night, mainly to northern portions of the region.

.DISCUSSION...As of 8:45 PM PST Saturday...A cold front
dissipated across the central portion of our forecast area earlier
today. A trailing shortwave trough is forecast to track across
northern California late tonight and Sunday, but models agree that
precipitation associated with this trough will remain to our
north. The exception may be far northwest Sonoma County where
light rain is possible tomorrow. Otherwise expect partly cloudy
skies to start the day, with mostly sunny conditions in most areas
by midday. Temperatures will remain near seasonal averages.
Slightly warmer temperatures are expected on Monday as a shortwave
ridge develops over California and drier air makes its way into
the boundary layer.
A weak system approaching from the northwest will bring light rain
chances late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Rain chances will mostly
be limited to the North Bay, although the 00Z NAM and 12Z ECMWF
both develop brief light rain as far south as Monterey Bay by
late Tuesday night. The Tuesday system will bring a cooler airmass
into our region, and temperatures are expected to be slightly
cooler than normal for the remainder of the week.
Generally dry conditions are expected for the remainder of the
work week. However, based on the 12Z ECMWF, several ECMWF ensemble
members, and a few GFS ensemble members, we could see another
quick round of scattered light rain late Wednesday night and into
Thursday. But precipitation chances are low and any accumulation
will be very light.
Models agree that a pattern of cool northwest flow, with
occasional weak systems embedded in that flow, will persist well
into the extended, with rain chances again by next weekend. But
none of the systems through next weekend are expected to bring
more than brief light precipitation.

.AVIATION...as of 9:45 PM PST Saturday...for 06z TAFs. Skies
remain mostly VFR around the Bay Are. Overnight, cigs may lower
providing isolated MVFR conditions, but minimal impacts to
terminals. Low confidence in the chances for isolated low clouds
in the North Bay during early Sunday morning. Winds remain breezy.
Coastal areas may see a few strong gusts tomorrow, especially
after the next week front pushes through. But the winds will be
mostly onshore and any lower cigs should lift in the afternoon for
VFR conditions around the Bay Area and the Central Coast.
Vicinity of KSFO...High clouds in the area provide VFR conditions
around the Bay Area. Winds remain quite breezy. Northwesterly
winds with some strong gusts are possible Sunday morning. They'll
subside slightly in the late morning and then pick up once again
in the afternoon as the next weak cold front moves through. The
winds are only forecast to really subside at the tail end of the
TAF period. Isolated MVFR conditions possible overnight as cigs
lower ahead of the front. A small chance of low clouds are
possible in common areas in the North Bay susceptible for fog.
Otherwise, cigs will lift by lunch and are forecast to remain
above VFR through the remainder of the day.
SFO Bridge Approach...Similar to KSFO.
Monterey Bay Terminals...VFR to MVFR conditions as mid-level
clouds are hugging the peninsula. Winds remain onshore and
breezy. Winds are expected to pick up overnight with the chance of
a few strong gusts for coastal terminals. Cigs will lover, but
MVFR is forecast through Sunday morning. Clouds will lift in the
afternoon for higher cigs and second round of stronger
northwesterly winds in the afternoon before tapering off by the
end of the TAF period.

.MARINE...as of 09:35 PM PST Saturday...Winds continue to be
strong, near gale, and out of the north- northwest. Steep seas are
forecast through this evening and overnight. Winds will decrease
on Sunday ahead of the next cold front, but will pick up again on
Monday. A moderate northwest swell will be fairly steady and
persist through the work week.
