.NEAR TERM /Now Through Sunday/...Upper flow remains mostly
zonal over the southeastern CONUS to start the period. Farther
upstream, a shortwave trough digs over the western High Plains
this afternoon, and passes over the Great Plains this evening.
This shortwave will continue its eastward progression, reaching
the Mississippi River late tonight, and then traversing over the
eastern conus on sunday. A deepening surface low pressure area
located initially near the western Great Lakes tonight lifts
northeastward into southeast Canada, with an associated cold front
approaching from the northwest that passes through the forecast
area on Sunday. Return flow will not be substantial enough to
allow much deep-layer moisture to filter back into the region
ahead of the front. While it is expected to be mainly a dry FROPA,
there could be just enough moisture along with with frontal
forcing and afternoon instability to initiate isolated patches of
rain or sprinkles over areas along and northwest of I-65. Temps
will continue to hover in the upper 70s this afternoon.

Patchy fog development will be possible over interior portions of
the area late tonight into early Sunday morning, with lows in the
low/mid 60s inland with upper 60s along the coast. Highs on
Sunday will depend on the timing of the front, with areas across
interior SE MS and SW AL topping out in the mid 70s before the
front pushes through and temps drop or hold steady. Farther south
and east, generally along and east of the I-65 corridor, still
expecting upper 70s and low 80s as heating will occur for a longer
period of time before the front finally moves through during the
late afternoon or evening. /22

.AVIATION...
18Z issuance...VFR will prevail across the forecast area through
midnight CST, followed by MVFR to IFR ceilings spreading from
northwest to southeast through the remainder of the forecast period
along a passing cold front. In addition...MVFR to IFR visibility
reductions due to fog will be possible late tonight into early
Sunday morning. Southeasterly winds between 5-10 knots this
afternoon will become south to southwesterly tonight, and then
westerly Sunday morning as high pressure moves to the east of the
