8 AM CST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low
  as 25 expected. For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 15 to 20
  mph with frequent wind gusts up to 35 mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Alabama, 
  northwest Florida and southeast Mississippi.

* WHEN...For the Freeze Warning, from 10 PM this evening to 8 AM 
  CST Tuesday. For the Wind Advisory, from 9 AM this morning to 
  5 PM CST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree
  limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
  Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive
  vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

.NEAR TERM UPDATE /Now Through Tuesday/... As the shortwave system
aloft moves off to the east overnight, a second, stronger shortwave
trough begins moving south over the Northern Plains to the Midwest,
eventually organizing into a closed system aloft over the Ohio and
TN River Valleys. Low to mid-level ridging begins building over the
region through the near term. The surface cold front continues
pushing off to our east overnight as the surface low moves off to
our northeast. Strong cold air advection will bring much cooler
temperatures behind the front. Low clouds are expected to linger
into the day on Monday with clearing occurring in the afternoon into
early Monday evening. Our region will be under northerly flow
overnight going into Monday. Temperatures are expected to drop to
below seasonal norms behind the front, as a significantly colder
airmass moves over the southeastern CONUS. Lows overnight are
expected to be in the low to mid 40s northwest of I-65, and mid
40s to near 50 southeast. High temperatures in the upper 40s to
mid 50s across the CWA are expected on Monday. Breezy
northwesterly winds will add to the chill through the day on
Monday.

A surface high pressure located over central TX begins shifting east
towards our region through Tuesday. The closed system aloft over the
TN River Valley continues shifting off to the northeast. Strong post
frontal cold air advection remains in place through Tuesday. This
will continue to bring a cold dry airmass south over the
southeastern CONUS. Furthermore, with skies clearing, and winds
becoming light, low temperatures overnight Monday into early Tuesday
are expected to range from the mid to upper 20s over most of the
forecast area, with low to mid 30s closer to coastal regions. A
Freeze Watch is currently in effect for the entire forecast area for
Monday night and will likely be upgraded to a Freeze warning in the
near future. High temperatures on Tuesday are expected to be in the
low to mid 50s, well below seasonal norms. JEH/88

At 511 PM CST, the strong thunderstorm was located 4 miles south of
Laurel Hill, or 10 miles southwest of Florala, moving northeast at 45
mph.

Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible with this storm.

extending from 4 miles northwest of Valparaiso to Lake Lorraine to 10
miles south of Mary Esther, and moving northeast at 45 mph.

Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Wright, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Eglin AFB, Valparaiso, Mary
