earlier thought for locations south and west of Madison so
increased low temps a few degrees. Arctic high pressure will move
ewd across WI and Lake MI through the night. After 12Z Fri, the
esely winds will increase as the high moves ewd. Lake effect
clouds are expected to develop for far ern WI but no snow is
expected until toward sunset.

The Winter Wx Advisory and snow totals look good for Fri aft-
Sat. Lake enhanced snow will occur over Sheboygan, Washington, and
Ozaukee counties with higher snow totals there. An upgrade to a
Winter Storm Warning may be needed given wind gusts up to 35 mph
and forecasted snow accums of 5-8 inches, but locally higher
amounts possible.

effect clouds will then likely affect the MKE metro area and nwd

SHORT TERM...

Tonight through Friday Morning...Forecast Confidence is High.

Clear skies and diminishing winds will allow for another cold
night, with low temperatures near or below what they were last
night. Wind chill values will be higher since winds will be light.

Steady southeast winds will lead to high waves along the
lakeshore Friday night. Lakeshore flooding is possible. There is a
Lakeshore Flood Advisory for Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties,
although this may get expanded southward if wave height forecasts
increase.

LONG TERM...

Friday Through Saturday - Forecast Confidence is Medium to High...

Heights begin to lower with the advancement of an upper level
trough Friday bringing positive vorticity advection,
frontogenesis, upper level divergence, and moisture to the area.
Precipitation is expected to begin as snow in the late afternoon
to early evening from west to east. Temperatures will be below
freezing allowing for snow to accumulate on onset. As we head into
Friday night, counties along the state border may see a period of
sleet as a shallow warm layer of air moves into the area. Some
freezing rain may also be possible as we lose some cloud ice
overnight and could result in a light glaze of ice. Otherwise snow
is expected to continue before ending Saturday afternoon with the
passage of the front and trough axis.

Accumulating snow and gusty winds will likely cause hazardous
travel conditions with 3 to 6 inches possible across the area with
the lowest amounts south of the I-94 corridor. Locally higher
amounts will be possible in east central Wisconsin due to the
potential for lake enhancement.

Saturday Night through Thursday...Forecast Confidence is High...

Temperatures drop Saturday night into the single digits to below
zero. Gusty northwest winds up to 35 mph will also bring some
areas down to Wind Chill Advisory values into Sunday morning. Cold
temperatures will continue into next week with highs in the single
digits and teens, and wind chills below zero. Temperatures will
then gradually warm as we head into the middle of next week. The
next chance for precipitation then moves in at the end of next
week.

AVIATION(21Z TAF Update)...

Mid level clouds will begin spreading into southern WI ahead of a
large low pressure system Friday morning. Look for snow to develop
spread into south central WI by mid afternoon and southeast WI by
early evening. Sheboygan and other lakeshore areas may see light
snow develop already Friday afternoon due to moisture off the lake
from persistent southeast winds.

Gusty southeast winds and periods of moderate snow are expected
Friday night. A wintry mix is possible toward the IL border early
Saturday morning. Lighter precip and low ceilings will develop as
the low tracks overhead Saturday morning. Gusty westerly winds
are expected Saturday afternoon and night in the wake of this
system.

MARINE...

High pressure will shift east of Lake Michigan Friday morning, and
southeast winds will ramp up during the day. Confidence is
increasing in southeast gales Friday night into Saturday morning.
Low pressure will move over the south portion of the lake on
Saturday, with northwest gales expected Saturday afternoon into
Sunday. An arctic airmass moves into the region Sunday, with
northwest winds remaining brisk into early next week. Freezing
spray will be a concern for the first half of next week.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of east central
Wisconsin, south central Wisconsin and southeast Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Thursday

A winter system is expected to bring snow and potentially a wintry
mix to the area late Friday afternoon into Saturday. Expect
travel impacts Friday evening into Saturday morning. There
remains some uncertainty on the exact track of the weekend system
as well as the amount of mixed precipitation later Friday night
into early Saturday which could impact amounts.

Areas of lakeshore flooding for Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties are
expected due to high lake levels and gusty southeast winds
causing waves up to 10 feet.

Wind chills are expected to fall to 10 to 20 below zero Saturday
night, and again Sunday night.

will be appreciated this weekend.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Thursday

Passing low pressure will result in gusty winds over the near
shore waters beginning Friday night and lasting through the
weekend. Wind gusts will reach Small Craft Advisory levels Friday
night into Sunday and gale force gusts will be likely Friday
night and again later Saturday into Saturday night.

The threat for heavy freezing spray increases Saturday night into
Sunday morning.

Passing low pressure will bring gusty winds to the open waters
from Friday through Sunday. Several periods of Gale force gusts
are expected. The threat for Freezing Spray increases from
Saturday night through Monday.
