There may be a time Thursday morning and again Thursday afternoon
where slightly higher ceilings appear in far southeast WI, in
between rounds of showers/storms. Non- severe thunderstorms will
overspread southern WI by midday Thursday with a warm front.
Thunder will be more isolated with this round. Southeast WI has a
chance to get into the warm sector with southerly winds and thus
has a chance for storms to develop in the evening. Storms could be
strong/severe. Strong winds are the main threat.

UPDATE...

Drizzle continues across south central WI and just inland from
Lake Michigan late this evening. There is a good chance that this
will continue through much of the night, especially toward
southwest WI where low level warm air advection will kick in. At a
minimum, expect light fog to persist. Drier air is taking hold
near Lake Michigan, so areas in southeast WI are seeing better
visibility, less drizzle, and higher cloud bases.

The main warm frontal precip should arrive mid to late morning
from southwest to northeast. Elevated instability supports
isolated thunderstorms, but not severe. Meso models and NAM are
suggesting a split in the steadier showers around southern WI.
They have a portion of the warm front lifting straight north into
central WI, only clipping south central WI for a short time in the
morning, with the nose of the low level jet progressing eastward
just south of the WI/IL border. That wave of precip is expected to
either clear the MKX forecast area to our north or stall over the
northern counties from Marquette County east to Sheboygan County.

Showers and thunderstorms may develop along the surface warm
frontal boundary (wherever that stalls) or any effective boundary
from midday showers and clouds. The other possible scenario for
storms crossing southern WI would be if any line segment develops
in northeast IA and tracks eastward. From previous AFD and still
valid: Sfc based storms are most likely from the MKE metro area
to Watertown and south to the IL border, where a small threat for
a brief spin up tornado is possible. Otherwise, momentum transfer
of high winds aloft to the sfc will be possible via 50 kts at only
2 kft.

MARINE...

Low pressure will develop over Colorado tonight. The low will
then move into northeast Kansas Thursday, before reaching east
central Ontario Thursday night while strengthening. A strong cold
front will move across the region Thursday night. The low will
strengthen further as it moves into Quebec Friday.

Southeast winds will gradually increase tonight into Thursday,
then will quickly veer northwest and become gusty behind the front
later Thursday night into Friday. Gales are likely to occur
Friday, behind the cold front.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the nearshore waters from
later Thursday afternoon into Thursday night, mainly for building
waves. A Gale Watch is then in effect for the nearshore waters
Friday morning.

SHORT TERM...

Tonight Through Thursday night...Forecast Confidence Is Medium To
High.

The rain has been diminishing from west to east across srn WI,
but it may linger near the IL border as a shortwave trough tracks
across nrn IL. Otherwise, drizzle may be possible tnt over south
central WI, where weak low level warm advection and deeper
saturation will occur.

For Thu, delayed the onset of rainfall until late morning and
early afternoon. The strong upper trough over Baja CA, Mexico will
lift newd into the central Great Plains for Thu afternoon. A
surge of warm, moist advection on the nose of a 50-60 kt LLJ will
bring widespread moderate rainfall by late morning or early
afternoon.

A wave of low pressure will then track newd along the sfc
trough/cold front Thu eve, while the upper trough approaches from
IA. This is when broken lines and clusters of tstorms will occur
over srn WI. Sfc based storms are most likely from the MKE metro
area to Watertown and south to the IL border, where a small threat
for a brief spin up tornado is possible. Otherwise, momentum
transfer of high winds aloft to the sfc will be possible via 50
kts at only 2 kft.

Overall, rainfall amounts should range from 0.50-1.00 inches.
River rises are expected, but the majority of the rivers should
remain below minor flood stage. Temperatures will surge into the

exception of north and west of Madison.

LONG TERM...

Friday Through Sunday...Forecast Confidence Is Medium.

Gusty northwest winds Friday will bring colder temperatures into
the region, which will last through the weekend. Some
stratocumulus clouds may linger on Friday. Strong high pressure
will move Southeast into the region Saturday, then east of the
region Sunday. Dry conditions are expected over the weekend. Some
lake effect clouds may affect eastern parts of the area Friday
night into Saturday.

Sunday Night Through Wednesday...Forecast Confidence Is Medium.

Models are showing more chances for precipitation mainly Tuesday
into Wednesday, though they differ a fair amount with timing and
placement of features. Steady warm air advection may bring milder
temperatures back into the region during this period. For now,
kept blended model PoPs and temperatures for this period.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of east central
Wisconsin, south central Wisconsin and southeast Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

Patchy dense fog is possible late tonight into Thursday morning
due to light winds and lingering moisture.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Wednesday

Scattered strong thunderstorms are expected Thursday evening with
the passage of low pressure and a cold front. There is a Marginal
to Slight Risk for these thunderstorms to become severe. Damaging
winds and a brief tornado or two are possible.

There is a chance for spotter activation late Thursday afternoon
and evening. Otherwise, your rainfall reports are appreciated.

Deepening low pressure moving through the western Great Lakes will
bring a period of breezy southeast winds Thursday afternoon that
will gradually veer to northwesterly by late Thursday night. A
Small Craft Advisory is in effect for late Thursday afternoon
until 7 AM Friday. This will be followed by a Gale Watch until 1
PM Friday. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are possible
Thursday night.

Michigan.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Wednesday

A few strong thunderstorms will be possible Thursday night,
mainly over the south half of the lake.

Dense fog will be possible over the south half of the lake for
late Thursday afternoon and evening as mild and moist air flows
over the cold waters of Lake Michigan.

Northwest gales are likely on Friday. A Gale Watch is in effect.
