At 347 PM EDT, thunderstorms were located along a line extending 
from 13 miles northwest of Miccosukee Resort to 12 miles east of 
Hallandale, moving south at 20 mph. This activity has weakened 
during the past 15 to 20 minutes. However, radar and satellite 
imagery indicate potential thunderstorms redeveloping over northern 
Miami-Dade County, and this activity could intensify to severe 
levels during the duration of the Severe Thunderstorm Warning. As a 
result, the warning remains in effect.

.Short Term...

Late Afternoon Through Sunday night...

A low amplitude wave, now evident in moisture channel imagery, will
progress through the Southeast CONUS this afternoon and evening. A
60 kt mid-level wind max will accompany the wave, as a thunderstorm
complex now over the eastern Gulf of Mexico moves across the Florida
Peninsula. Satellite derived precipitable water values this morning
show a reservoir of available moisture (values at or above 2 inches)
which will advect into the northern and eastern portions of the NWS
Miami CWA this afternoon. While the greatest mid-level height falls,
jet-level divergence, and cyclonic vorticity advection, and deep
layer shear will remain to our north (closer to the advancing
shortwave), there are a few factors suggesting that a severe weather
and/or flooding risk may exist across northern and eastern
portions of our area today. First, analysis of the 18.12z MFL
sounding suggests surface based instability is already on the
order of 1000 J/kg, with little inhibition. Capping aloft is
negligible with plentiful insolation, suggesting a favorable
environment for thunderstorm development with additional
warming/moistening today. While model forecast mid-level lapse
rates appear modest, heating within the lower troposphere is
forecast to boost low-level (0-3 km) lapse rates over 8 C/km this
afternoon. The aforementioned warming/moistening suggests
plentiful buoyancy today as MLCAPE rises to around 2 kJ/kg.
Additionally, a pinned east coast sea breeze should serve as a
low-level focus for ascent, with outflow boundaries providing an
additional focus after convective initiation. Given forecast
theta-E differentials and 900 J/kg of DCAPE strong to locally
damaging downburst winds appear to be a primary hazard with
sufficient precipitation loading taking place within the more
robust thunderstorm updrafts. Hail is also possible in the taller
cores. There is also a secondary (albeit more conditional) concern
for a tornado or two given potential boundary collisions along
with the localized backing of the low- level winds associated
with the sea breeze boundary. The areas most likely to see strong
to severe storms this afternoon appears to align well with the
recently updated Day 1 Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center,
which places a slight risk for severe thunderstorms across the
eastern half of Palm Beach County, with a marginal risk continuing
south across eastern Broward and into northeast Miami- Dade
Counties.

Given antecedent rainfall on the order of 2-3 inches over portions
of Palm Beach County, flooding is also a concern should convection
repeatedly affect any of these areas. The pinned sea breeze suggests
we'll also need to watch coastal/metro Broward and Miami-Dade
Counties for flooding potential as well.

Showers and thunderstorms should gradually diminsh over land
areas this evening as the upper wave departs, but may continue for
a time over the Atlantic waters tonight. Patchy fog is possible
over inland areas late tonight into Sunday morning.

Warm weather continues on Sunday, with highs in the 90s away from
the coasts. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible,
with the greatest chances from the Lake region towards Palm Beach
County.

.Long Term...
Monday through Friday night...

Monday will start off with a 500mb short wave well to the north of
the area. Associated with this short wave is a surface low, which
should be off the Mid-Atlantic coast by Monday at 12z. A cold
front associated with this low should be stretched back to the
east southeast, over Central Florida. just ahead of this front,
the models are showing the weather to be quiet the first half
Monday. As the front slides to the south, showers and
thunderstorms moving into the wester lake region by Monday
afternoon.

The front continues to push south Monday night, allowing for more
widespread chance PoPs for Monday night. On Tuesday, the front
stalls somewhere over South Florida, but begins to wash out, as
the actual low moves well away from the CONUS. This would allow
for some chance PoPs, especially over the eastern half of the CWA
on Tuesday. By Tuesday night, high pressure builds to the north,
allowing for quieter weather Tuesday night through Thursday
morning.

Thursday morning will see a 500 mb short wave moving well north of
the area once again. At the surface, an area of low pressure is
associated with the short wave. This will push the high well to
the east, allowing for a more unstable atmosphere over South
Florida for Thursday, allowing for some slight chance PoPs for
much of South Florida on Thursday. Thursday night, a surface
trough, ahead of the cold front, develops, and moves into the
area. This could potentially keep showers and thunderstorms going
through the overnight hours and into early Friday morning.

.Marine...

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected over the local
waters today and remain possible on Sunday. Lightning, strong gusty
winds, and waterspouts are possible with these storms. Cautionary to
hazardous marine conditions are possible by early next week as winds
and seas increase.

.Aviation (18Z TAFS)...

Shower/thunderstorm chances increasing for the eastern terminals
through 22-23z, then decreasing. Gusty and erratic winds, along
with sub-VFR conditions expected if a storm directly impacts a
terminal. Outside of this mainly SSW winds, but the near-coast
sites could briefly see SSE with the sea breeze just slightly
inland at the moment. Rain chances diminish tonight with winds
becoming more SSE on Sunday.

There is a moderate risk for rip currents for the Palm Beaches
today. Showers and thunderstorms are likely for the Atlantic beaches
today with strong winds and lightning possible.

COUNTIES UNTIL 345 PM EDT...

* At 257 PM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists were
  tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Downtown
  West Palm Beach to near Parkland to 9 miles south of Holey Land
  Wildlife Refuge. Movement was east at 35 mph.

* Winds in excess of 45 mph and funnel clouds possible with these
  storms.

* Locations impacted include...
  Coral Springs, West Palm Beach, Pompano Beach, Boca Raton,
  Deerfield Beach, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Tamarac, Wellington,
  Jupiter, Margate, Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Worth, Riviera Beach,
  Lighthouse Point, Palm Beach, Tequesta, Highland Beach, Juno Beach
  and Ocean Ridge.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This activity was also developing in an environment favorable for the

* At 305 PM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists were
  tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles
  northwest of Intersection Krome And U.S. 27 to Chula Vista.
  Movement was east at 30 mph.

* Small hail, funnel clouds, and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph possible
  with these storms.

* Locations impacted include...
  Miami, Hialeah, Miramar, Miami Beach, Surfside, Hallandale, Miami
  Gardens, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Miami Lakes,
  Hialeah Gardens, Sunny Isles Beach, Opa-Locka, Miami Shores, North
  Bay Village, El Portal, Medley, Westview and Palm Springs North.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
