Convection will return around sunrise and spread from south to
north through the day. Sub-VFR conditions are possible,
particularly as convection peaks from mid-morning into the
afternoon hours. A Gulf sea breeze could develop which could bring
some directional variability of the wind at APF.

Adjusted PoPs downward through the evening hours based on radar
trends and a consensus of the convection allowing models. Shower
chances gradually increase towards Friday morning as depicted by
the going forecast, which is in good shape. While heavy rain
trends tomorrow will be largely mesoscale driven, given antecedent
conditions and an environment capable of high precipitation
efficiency, opted to extend the Flood Watch through Friday
evening.

Short Term...

This Afternoon Into Tonight...
The west and east coast sea breezes have developed over South Florida
early this afternoon. The west coast sea breeze will push across
South Florida this afternoon into this evening while the east coast
sea breeze remains over the east coast metro areas. At the same
time, a short wave in the mid to upper levels of the atmosphere
over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico will move northeast across South
Florida into the Atlantic waters this evening. The combination of
the sea breezes and the short wave will help to generate showers
and thunderstorms over South Florida with the highest focus over
the interior and east coast metro areas.

The PWAT values from the MIA 18Z sounding this afternoon was
around 2 to 2.1 inches which is in the highest 10 percentile range
for this time of year. This means that any showers and
thunderstorms that do develop over the region will be capable of
producing heavy rainfall that can lead to some flooding
conditions, due to the grounds being saturated from previous
rains that occurred last weekend into earlier this week.
THerefore, the Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday
morning over South Florida.

The MIA 18Z sounding still showed the 500 mb temperature was
around -6.5C for this time of year which means that there could
still be a few strong thunderstorms over South Florida this
afternoon especially where the sea breezes collide. The Primary
impacts will be lightning strikes and gusty winds. There could
also be a weak, isolated tornado over the eastern areas due to the
sea breeze collisions.

The showers and thunderstorms should taper down this evening, as
the short wave will be east of South Florida. However, another
round of showers and thunderstorms could redevelop over the
Florida Straits late tonight and work northward into the southern
portions of South Florida on the southerly wind flow. Therefore,
POPs will decrease to low end chance over South Florida tonight,
except for the southern areas where they will be in more of a
chance CAT for late tonight.

Friday...
The high over the Western Atlantic waters will shift a little bit
eastward on Friday, as NHC is forecasting Tropical Depression
Cristobal over the Yucatan Peninsula to move slowly northward
towards the Southern Gulf of Mexico. This will keep a south to
southwest wind flow over South Florida on Friday, while allowing
for the west coast sea breeze to push inland keeping the east
coast sea breeze over the east coast metro areas. This will also
keep the PWAT values around 2 inches on Friday which is still in
the 90th percentile range for this time of year for the PWAT
values leading to possible heavy rainfall conditions. Therefore,
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will again be
possible over South Florida on Friday along with heavy rainfall.

Long Term (Saturday through Wednesday)...

On Saturday, Cristobal is forecast to move slowly northward across
the Central Gulf as a tropical storm. As Cristobal is forecast to be
very disorganized, much of the rainfall associated with it will be
east of the storm over the eastern Gulf, with a plume of deep
tropical moisture extending over the Florida Peninsula at least
through the weekend. This plume of tropical moisture will
contribute to several rounds of showers and thunderstorms across
the area through the weekend, with the greatest chance for heavy
rainfall across the Gulf Coast and Lake region.

Sunday night into Monday, the surface winds remain southerly to
southeasterly with steering flow becoming a bit more
southwesterly, which could increase the chance for showers and
thunderstorms across the East Coast. This could lead to multiple
rounds of showers and thunderstorms over the waters and East
Coast during the overnight/morning hours before additional
activity develops across the interior during the afternoon hours.

Late Tuesday into Wednesday, Cristobal is forecast to be well
inland but the moisture plume remains in place over the state. At
the same time, a backdoor front sinks towards the area from the
northeast before stalling out. This, along with the remaining
tropical moisture could continue to keep periods of showers and
thunderstorms in the forecast through the rest of the long term
period. Highs throughout the long term will generally range from
the 80s to near 90 with high humidity keeping max heat indices in
the 90s to near 100.

Marine...
The winds will remain from the east southeast direction at 10 to
15 knots over all of South Florida through Friday before
increasing to 15 to 20 knots over most of South Florida waters,
except for offshore Gulf waters where the winds could increase to
around 20 knots late this weekend. There will also be a west to
northwest swell working into the Gulf waters of South Florida this
weekend into early next week, as NHC is forecasting Depression
Cristobal to move northward through The Gulf of Mexico.

These weather conditions will allow for the Atlantic seas to
increase from around 2 feet tonight to 2 to 4 feet by this
weekend. The Gulf seas will also increase from around 2 feet
tonight to 4 to 6 feet near- shore up to 8 feet offshore late this
weekend.

Beach Forecast...
The moderate to breezy easterly wind flow will continue to cause
rip current conditions along the east coast beaches through at
least Friday and possibility in the weekend. The Gulf coast
beaches could even see evaluated surf conditions this weekend
leading to an increase surf high and rip current risk this
weekend. Therefore, a High Risk of Rip Currents will continue for
the east coast beaches of South Florida through at least Friday
and will continue monitor for possible rip current flags for the
west coast beaches and high surf conditions for this weekend.

This hazardous weather outlook is for South Florida.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT

Rip currents: There is a high risk of rip currents at the Atlantic
beaches today and tonight.

Thunderstorms: Scattered thunderstorms will continue through today
and tonight across most of South Florida. The strongest storms could
contain heavy rainfall and gusty winds especially across the interior
and west coast this afternoon.

Flooding: Some of the showers and thunderstorms could contain heavy
rainfall which could lead to some localized flooding in urban and
poor drainage areas. A flood watch is in effect through 8 AM Friday.

Wind: The strongest thunderstorms could contain wind gusts up to 50
mph.

Waterspouts: Waterspouts are possible over the Gulf of Mexico
waters, Lake Okeechobee, and the Atlantic waters today.

Tornadoes: A weak, isolated tornado is possible with the strongest
storms over the east coast metro areas today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

Scattered Thunderstorms will continue across South Florida through
the remainder of the period. Periods of locally heavy rainfall could
result in flooding in some areas over the next several days. Gusty
winds may also accompany the stronger thunderstorms into the weekend.

The risk of rip currents will remain elevated at the Atlantic beaches
for the remainder of the week and upcoming weekend. Elevated rip
currents, surf, winds, and waves are expected across Gulf waters and
Gulf beaches later this weekend as swell from Cristobal arrives.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Widespread spotter activation is not anticipated, however individual
spotters are encouraged to report high wind, hail and flooding to
the National Weather Service forecast office in Miami.
