.UPDATE...

Tonight, isolated to scattered showers will continue to move over the
local and outer waters, as well as the eastern and northern areas
of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. CIMSS Total
Precipitable water shows a patch of moisture moving across the
region; this moisture will aid in the development of showers
during the overnight hours. Additionally, the increasing moisture
concedes with the latest 15/18Z GFS, which shows precipitable
waters values rising throughout the overnight into the Sunday
morning. The mid-low and upper-level trough will continue to move
away from the forecast area over the next several days. In the
meantime, the features above will cause meager instability over
the area, which could lead to the development of isolated
thunderstorms during the overnight and early Sunday morning. The
500 MB temperatures are forecast warm tonight through tomorrow,
with temperatures going from -11 to -8 degrees Celsius by Sunday
afternoon.

The GFS 15/18Z cross-sections depict moisture confined between
1000 to 500 MB Sunday afternoon. The increase in moisture coupled
with local and diurnal effects will lead to the development of
showers across most of the area tomorrow. The WRF high-res model
shows showers, developing across the eastern, northern, and
southeastern Puerto Rico tomorrow morning. Also, the U.S. Virgin
Islands, Saint Thomas, and Saint John can expect showers during
the overnight and Sunday morning. Then, the shower activity is
forecast to spread over the interior and western areas of Puerto
Rico during the afternoon.

The development of showers could pose a problem for municipalities
of Anasco, Mayaguez, Rincon, and Aguada, which received rainfall
amounts ranging from 2 to 3 inches. Additional rainfall could
cause urban and small stream flooding and ponding of water on
roadways. Also, other areas of Puerto Rico could experience urban
and small stream flooding and ponding of water on roads tomorrow.

.AVIATION...

VRF/MVFR conds are expected across eastern PR and USVI terminal
sites through 16/12Z. MVFR conds will occur due to ISO/SCT
SHRA/+RA that will move over the above terminals quickly. ISO/SCT
SHRA/VCTS are possible across TJMZ and TJBQ by 16/15Z. Easterly
winds of 15-20 kts will continue below FL150. Max winds N-NNE
40-50 kt btwn FL245-346.

.MARINE...

Seas will range from 4 to 6 feet now through Sunday, then a
northerly swell is forecast to reach the Atlantic waters and
increase the seas to 5 to 7 by Monday morning. Easterly winds of
10 to 20 kts will continue over the next several days over the
Atlantic, Caribbean and near-shore waters. There is a high risk of
rip currents for the northwestern beaches of Puerto Rico tonight.

SYNOPSIS...Shower and thunderstorm development will continue
through Sunday due to a mid level low over the area. Drier
conditions return on Monday, but diurnally induced afternoon
showers are expected each day over portions of the interior and
western PR through next week. A northerly swell will increase seas
and the risk of rip currents on Monday.

SHORT TERM...Today through Monday...
A mid-level low over our area will continue to move slowly east
and away of the region by Sunday night. This will continue to
promote unstable conditions aloft and maintain sufficient low
level moisture across our area to trigger afternoon thunderstorms
over the interior and western sections of Puerto Rico, as well as
scattered shower development with isolated thunderstorms across
the regional waters. Moderate to locally fresh easterly winds will
prevail through the short term period. Therefore, shower activity
with possible isolated thunderstorms can not be ruled out tonight
and through Sunday morning across portions of the USVI and
eastern PR. Ponding of water on low lying areas and urban/small
stream flooding can be expected due to periods of moderate to
locally heavy rainfall. Brief gusty winds and occasional lightning
strikes are expected with the thunderstorms.

A mid-level ridge building over the central Caribbean will promote
drier air and more stable conditions by Monday. However, diurnally
induced afternoon showers are expected to develop over western PR.
Elsewhere, fair weather conditions are expected with the
occasional passing trade wind shower during the night/early
morning hours and streamers developing off the smaller islands
around noon.

LONG TERM...Tuesday through Sunday...From Prev Discussion...
Our weather for the middle of next week looks to return to a more
normal pattern, with low level easterly winds bringing in patches
of moisture. However, forecast models suggest ample moisture
associated with these patches, so conditions will likely be wetter
than normal. Thus, scattered showers will be likely for
especially the east coast of Puerto Rico in the morning hours for
Tuesday, and western Puerto Rico in the afternoon. Even more
moisture moves in for Wednesday and Thursday, so scattered to
numerous showers will prevail. Thunderstorms for this period look
to be unlikely, as the upper level atmospheric support looks
unfavorable. However, with plenty of low level of moisture in
place, the areas that receive more persistent showers have the
possibility for some localized flooding as well. At least low-
level winds look fairly breezy, which will help the showers to
move along quickly.

Long-range models are hinting at somewhat drier conditions for
next Friday, but there will still likely be isolated to scattered
showers around. There is decent agreement in the models of an
approaching front for next weekend. However, the American model
suggests it will arrive for Saturday, while the European model
keeps it to our northwest till Monday. At this point, both models
suggest plenty of moisture in this front, so this will be
something to monitor throughout the next week.

AVIATION...Mainly VFR conds expected across most of the TAF sites
except over TJMZ and TJBQ were MVFR cigs are possible with
SHRA/TSRA thru 22Z. VCSH may affect terminals at times as SHRA are
moving quickly across the flying area. Easterly winds of 15-20
kts will continue below FL150. Over land winds will diminish at 10
kts or less late tonight and overnight.

MARINE...Seas are expected to continue in general between 4-6
feet through Sunday, then a northerly swell will increase seas
across the Atlantic waters through midweek. Easterly winds will
continue between 10-20 knots across the regional waters for the
next several days. A high risk of rip currents will continue for
the northwest coast of PR through late tonight, and a moderate
risk is expected on Sunday across most of the beaches of PR/USVI.
The long period northerly swell will increase the risk of rip
currents from the northwest to northeast coast of PR, including
Culebra and St. Thomas on Monday.

esperar con la lluvia fuerte en areas de pobre drenaje.

.Vientos...Se esperan vientos sostenidos hasta 20 mph/17 nudos sobre
las aguas del norte y sur de Puerto Rico y las aguas adyacentes.

.Oleaje... Oleaje picado de hasta 7 pies se espera en las aguas mar
afuera del Atlantico y hasta 6 pies en la mayoria de las aguas
locales con excepcion de las aguas costeras del oeste de Puerto Rico.

.Corrientes marinas...Existe un riesgo alto de corrientes marinas
para las playas del noroeste de Puerto Rico. Un riesgo moderado
existe para la mayoria de las aguas del norte, este y sur de Puerto
Rico, Culebra y Vieques.

.Dias dos hasta el siete...domingo a viernes

Oleaje picado comenzara a disminuir durante el resto del fin de
semana pero se espera vuelva a aumnetar el lunes. El riesgo de
inundaciones urbanas y de pequenos riachuelos aumenta el domingo.
