...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM EDT
FOR NORTHEASTERN ELKHART...SOUTHEASTERN CASS AND SOUTHWESTERN ST.
JOSEPH COUNTIES...

At 311 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Bristol, or 7
miles northeast of Dunlap, moving north at 10 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Middlebury, Bristol, White Pigeon, Union and Mottville. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

building.

SOUTHEASTERN CASS AND SOUTHWESTERN ST. JOSEPH COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT
330 PM EDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 227 PM EDT Wed May 27 2020

Humid conditions and chances for isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms will continue through Friday. The best chances for
rain will be Thursday afternoon into Thursday night as a cold front
approaches. Much cooler and dry conditions will then follow later
Friday into this weekend.

.SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Friday)

Chances for isolated to scattered showers/storms, highest during the
afternoon heating cycle, will persist into Thursday. Moist airmass
and a series of sheared vort maxes lifting north on the east side of
an Ozarks upper low will provide these non-zero chances for
measurable precipitation. A low shear/buoyancy profile will limit
the severe threat this afternoon and again Thursday afternoon,
though cannot rule out a few pulse storms generating some higher
wind gusts during the collapse phase.

The upper low will finally release north and open up as it gets
absorbed into a northern stream trough digging into the Great Lakes.
Associated height falls and ample moisture will support higher
chances for rain showers along a cold front Thursday night into
Friday. Areas west of I-69 should experience drying/clearing
Friday afternoon in wake of this cold front.

.LONG TERM...(Saturday through Wednesday)

Northwest flow aloft, within the inflection point downstream of a
building Northern Plains ridge, will support below normal temps
and fair wx this weekend. The upstream ridge will likely ease east
toward the Upper Midwest and Western Great Lakes next week. This
will allow for moderating temps, with the bulk of shower activity
associated with shortwaves riding the ridge and theta-e gradient
mainly remaining north-northwest of the local area by Tue-Wed.

Blocked pattern aloft with wrn spoke of mid mid lvl ridge still
overtop the terminals. Hwvr warm/moist airmass in place will still
supports isolated storms this aftn/evening. Lack of defined
trigger/focus lends no confidence in inserting a brief tempo
grouping for possible MVFR tsra restriction. Will amend as needed.
