...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following waterways 
in Indiana...

  Wabash River...

.Brief lowland flooding has either begun or will begin over the 
next couple of days across central Indiana as a result of over an 
inch of rain that has fallen since Sunday. 

Flooding will be brief and less than three feet above flood stage.  
Dry conditions through the rest of the week will help keep flooding 
brief with the last of the flooding currently expected to end early 
next week.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  Wabash River...White River...


.Brief lowland flooding continues in western Indiana on the Wabash 
River, and will develop at Edwardsport on the White River, as a 
result of over an inch of rain that fell Sunday and Monday.

Flooding will be brief and less than two feet above flood stage.  Dry 
conditions through the weekend will help keep flooding brief with the 
last of the flooding currently expected to end early next week.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

amounts of around a half inch Monday night and early Tuesday are 
expected to bring renewed flooding to the middle portions of the 
Wabash River by mid week.  Flooding is expected to be brief and less

.Flooding has ended along the Wabash River and with rain amounts not 
quite as high as expected Monday night, river levels are no longer 
anticipated to rise to flood stage later this week.  Therefore, the 
flood warning is cancelled. Additional rain later this week and next 
week could lead to renewed flooding.

Several weak systems will bring chances for precipitation to parts
of the area at times through Friday. A cold front will bring more
rain chances early next week. Temperatures will be above normal for
much of the time into next week.

.NEAR TERM...(Rest of Today)
Issued at 1026 AM EST Tue Mar 3 2020

For the update, added a chance for sprinkles in the northeast
counties for a few hours late this afternoon based on some returns
from the hi res models and increased cloud cover for the same area
during that time. No other appreciable changes made. May issue an
SPS to highlight wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph this afternoon.
Relevant parts of previous discussion follow...

This afternoon, the upper trough axis will move in. Hi-res short
term models try to develop some convection with this across the far
northern forecast area. For now believe better chances will be just
north of the area closer to better forcing, so will leave the
afternoon dry. Will have to keep an eye out though.

The next issue will be winds. A decent pressure gradient develops
across the area, and low level winds increase a bit with cold
advection aloft. Thus expect a breezy day today. Bufkit soundings
and short term models show gusts into the 30-35kt range this
afternoon.

Otherwise clouds will gradually decrease today. Temperatures should
be able to reach the NBM highs with some sunshine expected.

.SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Thursday night)

Models are close enough that the National Blend of Models
initialization was accepted for most items.

The evening will be quiet, but overnight a compact short wave will
approach from the northwest. This could produce some light rain
across the far northwest late, so will have some slight chance PoPs
there.

On Wednesday, this wave will move through during the morning.
Moisture isn't great, but there looks to be enough forcing to have
some slight chance PoPs north.

Quiet weather will then return Wednesday afternoon through the day
Thursday with central Indiana in between systems.

On Thursday night a stronger upper trough moves in. Moisture again
isn't that great, but enough forcing will be around for some low
PoPs.

NBM temperatures look reasonable through the short term.

.LONG TERM /Friday through Monday/...
Issued at 226 AM EST Tue Mar 3 2020

Ensembles indicate a progressive upper flow can be expected across
the area during this period. A trough will be dropping southeast
through the eastern Great Lakes on Friday. Most of the energy with
this trough looks to stay off to the northeast of the local area.
Will go with some chance PoPs for light mixed precipitation on
Friday, mainly over the eastern zones.

Fairly strong upper ridging is expected to drift across the area
over the upcoming weekend. Will keep the forecast dry from Friday
night through Sunday night.

Ensembles suggest a short wave trough may eject out of a long wave
trough along the West Coast, into the Midwest by next Monday. Will
bring PoPs for rain back into the forecast for next Monday.

Some diurnal cloud cover based 030-040 may develop within the cold
advection pattern this afternoon.

Surface winds should settle to a 250-270 degree range by the late
morning hours, as surface low pressure passes off to the east. A
developing tight pressure gradient in the wake of the low will
result in good potential for frequent surface gusts in excess of
30 kts this afternoon.
