...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM CDT
FOR NORTHEASTERN MCLEAN COUNTY...

At 631 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Colfax, or 15
miles southwest of Fairbury, moving southeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Lexington, Colfax, Cooksville and Pleasant Hill. 

This includes Interstate 55 near mile marker 180.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to

The severe thunderstorm which prompted the warning has weakened. 
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However small

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 230 PM CDT Sun Jun 21 2020

An upper level disturbance will bring isolated thunderstorms
through early this evening. A cold front will approach the region
Monday and bring widespread showers and storms Monday afternoon
into Tuesday. Cooler temperatures can be expected midweek behind
the front.

.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Monday)
ISSUED AT 230 PM CDT Sun Jun 21 2020

Isolated thunderstorms will diminish early this evening as a
combination of short-wave ridging and the loss of solar heating
inhibit further development. Earlier cloud cover has kept an area
of more stable air across central and eastern forecast area.
Current activity is occurring along the gradient between the more
unstable air to the west and the air impacted by a delay in
clearing.

Next weather system approaches for Monday in the form of a
shortwave currently over the northern high plains. the wave is
expected to intensify as it digs into the upper trough in place
across the Midwest. An associated cold front will push into the
state Monday afternoon. The trend with this system has been slower
which may allow some additional solar heating prior to the onset
of overcast and precipitation. This should lead to additional
instability and although shear remains marginal, pulse storms in
the warm sector ahead of the front may be strong.

.LONG TERM...(Monday night through Sunday)
ISSUED AT 230 PM CDT Sun Jun 21 2020

Position of cut-off low expected to be over Ontario Midweek
continues to be the wildcard in the forecast beyond Monday's
system. Occasional vorticity lobes rotating around it and pools of
colder mid-level temperatures associated with them should skirt
the area through at least Wednesday. Although most of the activity
will likely stay north of us. Lapse rates may become steep enough
north of I-74 for some afternoon/early evening convection. later
shifts will need to monitor this closely.

The low is finally expected to get picked up by the northern
stream toward Thursday as the next wave approaches Illinois toward
the end of the week. Still too early to focus on potential for
severe weather with this wave.

Once the wave gets by the global models are in reasonable
agreement in increasing heights and climbing 850 temps back to
above 15C for the weekend.

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Monday afternoon)
Issued at 1220 PM CDT Sun Jun 21 2020

Ceilings have been slow to come up today as cirris has inhibited
heating somewhat. An extremely moist boundary layer only needs a
small amount of insolation to develop cumulus and isolated
thunderstorms. As the afternoon continues, drier air evident at
the 12z KDVN sounding will continue to advect into Illinois above
800mb which should keep convection isolated and disorganized. Will
handle with VCTS for now at the terminals from I-55 and east into
early evening. If a focus becomes clearer admendments will be made
to indicate a higher chance.

Next system will approach the terminals Monday morning. Trend has
been to slow the shortwave associated with this sytem and will
only mention VCTS in the western terminals toward the end of this
issuance valid time.
