.NEAR TERM...(Today)

A pre-frontal trough is producing a fast moving but decaying line of
low-topped showers. These have been producing gusty winds, but should
exit well before 12Z. This is also tied with the main strong
shortwave aloft. A defined dry slot has cleared the sky temporarily
behind the pre-frontal trof. The deformation field and associated
showers should stay north of us this morning. However, low clouds
were curling east into northwest AL and middle TN. The surface cold
front at 06Z extended from NW TN through Memphis into southern AR and
will pass through later this morning. Highs should only reach the
u50s-a60 this afternoon, although the clouds may hamper that warm up
during the afternoon.

.SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Wednesday)

Tonight, clearing should take place, but north-northeast flow due to
the continued pressure gradient should keep lows in the u30s-a40
Tuesday morning. Thus, have left frost out of the forecast tonight.
WSW flow at 5h will persist through Tuesday into Wednesday. The
frontal boundary at 8h-7h will remain in place just to our northwest
from OK through TN/KY. This may be the source of clouds and perhaps
light precipitation Tuesday into Tuesday night just to our northwest.
Soundings appear too dry to include precip at this point. There
could be a few snow flakes just to our north in middle TN, so we will
have to watch this mid level frontal boundary position closely. For
now, a dry forecast is in place through Wednesday. Highs Wednesday
will be in the u50s-l60s. We may have patchy frost Wednesday Night
into Thursday morning as the surface high moves across the central TN
valley, but will leave out until confidence is a bit higher in this
occurring.

.LONG TERM...(Wednesday night through Sunday)

Very broad upper-level troughing is in place across the CONUS through
the end of the week. This will keep temperatures right around
climatological normal or slightly cooler going into this weekend. On
Thursday, a weak surface high will encourage sinking motion over MS
and AL and lead to clear skies and calm winds over the Tennessee
Valley. This remains in place through the first half of Friday. A
weak shortwave will pass north of us across Missouri into the Ohio
River Valley on Friday. With this we will likely see clouds increase
Friday morning, and maybe clip us with some light Friday night. Going
into the weekend, both the GFS and ECMWF have a stronger shortwave
trough moving through either Saturday or Sunday. This could bring a
more organized rain threat to the Tennessee Valley over the weekend,
however, the timing is about 24 hours different between the two
models. Went heavily with the National Blend of Models for the
weekend precipitation chances for this reason.

.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Monday night)

A final band of moderate-heavy SHRA and embedded TSRA (associated
with a prefrontal sfc trough) will shift eastward rather quickly at
the beginning of the TAF period, with a tempo group for this activity
included at HSV/06-07Z. Sfc flow will veer to WSW at 10G18 knots in
the wake of the trough axis, with bkn MVFR stratus anticipated until
the arrival of a cold front around 10Z/MSL and 11Z/HSV. Winds will
veer further to WNW in the wake of the cold front, with a lower
overcast stratus deck expected to build into the region from the NW.
Cigs will likely remain arnd 1500 ft AGL throughout the morning, but
should slowly begin to lift/scatter early in the afternoon, with a
return to VFR conds expected btwn 22-23Z.
