Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop across the region today, first forming along the mountain ridges from early to middle afternoon, then migrating east over the foothills and Piedmont through the late afternoon and evening hours. These thunderstorms will all produce cloud to ground lightning, very heavy downpours, and briefly gusty winds. A few of the storms may become severe, with damaging wind gusts above 60 mph the primary threat. Any locations repeatedly affected by the slowly moving storms could experience localized flooding as well. The coverage of the showers and thunderstorms will slowly diminish overnight. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. No hazardous weather is expected at this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be needed.
