.Hot, dry and breezy conditions are expected each of the next
couple of days mainly in the vicinity of the eastern Colorado
border region. Widespread relative humidity values below
20 percent are expected each afternoon with minimum relative
humidity values dropping as low as 10 percent over far eastern
Colorado. Frequent afternoon wind gusts over 25 mph are also
expected. Hot, dry conditions with gusty winds and a lack of rain
over the region over the last several days are creating fuels
that are ready to burn and the critical fire weather conditions
that will produce rapid fire growth.

.SHORT TERM...(Today through Monday night)
Issued at 354 AM MDT Sun Jun 14 2020

Hot and dry conditions are expected through early next week along
with critical to near-critical fire weather conditions.  An upper
ridge continues to sit over the center of the nation today with an
upper trough situated over the Western CONUS.  High temperatures
today will range from the mid-90s to low triple digits.  Main change
to the forecast today was bumping up winds a little for this
afternoon.  Model soundings show a pretty good inverted-v set up.
With peak mixing, winds may still be a little underdone.  Sustained
winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 40 mph will be possible this
afternoon.  Relative humidity values will drop into the low to mid-
teens across much of the forecast area this afternoon.  A Red Flag
Warning will be in effect from late this morning through early
evening.

Southwest flow aloft will persist over the area this afternoon and
evening with a shortwave trough moving into the region.  A few
isolated strong to severe storms may be possible this evening. DCAPE
values are expected to be as high as 1500 J/kg this afternoon with
SBCAPE and MLCAPE values of around 500-1000 J/kg.  ML lapse rates
will be around 8 C/km this afternoon.  CAMS do show a few spotty
storms popping up this evening, however confidence remains low at
this time.  If a storm were to develop, it could produce some
localized damaging winds.

Monday, a closed low over NW Montana will push to the northeast,
broadening the upper trough in the process.  The ridge will begin to
flatten out as the trough extends into the western part of the
Dakotas. Temperatures are expected to be hot once again with
highs ranging from the mid to upper 90s. A Fire Weather Watch has
been issued for the entire Tri-State area in the afternoon.
Relative humidity values will range from the low to mid-teens
across much of the area Monday afternoon. Winds will be a little
weaker than Sunday, however, gusts of 35+ mph will be possible in
the afternoon. Critical to near-critical fire weather conditions
will continue into Tuesday. Overnight low going into Tuesday
morning will be in the 60s.

.LONG TERM...(Wednesday through Sunday)
Issued at 215 PM MDT Sun Jun 14 2020

Wednesday will be the last of the hot and dry days, with fire
weather concerns once again. Cold front will move through
Wednesday night with a chance of showers and thunderstorms,
primarily in southwest Nebraska. Thursday will be cooler, lower
80s to lower 90s, with an easterly upslope wind. Showers and
thunderstorms will roll across the area Thursday evening as they
develop on the higher terrain in response to a shortwave rounding
the base of the an upper low in the northern plains. This pattern
will repeat on Friday and Saturday, with mainly afternoon and
evening thunderstorm chances associated with weak waves in the
flow and a stationary front draped across or near the area.
Towards Sunday, will get into more of a northwest flow ahead of a
ridge building over the Great Basin. Storm chances will continue,
but a bit more isolated in coverage. Temperatures closer to
normal, upper 80s, will continue as well. Deep layer shear and
instability should be sufficient for a risk of severe storms
Thursday through Saturday, and with the repeated rounds of storms
may also see a risk of heavy rain and flash flooding.

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Monday afternoon)
Issued at 1039 AM MDT Sun Jun 14 2020

VFR conditions are expected at MCK and GLD through the 18Z TAF
period with high clouds and gusty south winds. There will be
isolated showers moving across the area late this afternoon and
evening, but the probability of any one shower moving across
either TAF site was low enough to exclude them entirely. Between
about 03-13Z, the overnight temperature inversion will be
established, producing a low level jet at about 1kft above the
surface. This core of stronger winds will produce LLWS at both MCK
and GLD during that time period with winds as high as 50kts.

This hazardous weather outlook is for extreme southwest Nebraska...
northwest Kansas and east central Colorado.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM MDT (NOON CDT) through 8
PM MDT (9 PM CDT) for the entire forecast area Today. Dry conditions
and gusty winds will produce critical fire weather conditions.
Outdoor burning is not advised as any fires that start will have
extreme fire behavior and will spread rapidly.

Isolated light showers will continue across the forecast area this
afternoon and evening with a few thunderstorms possible mainly west
of a Trenton, Nebraska, to St. Francis, Kansas, to Burlington,
Colorado line. Strong wind gusts are possible in the vicinity
showers. The main threat with any thunderstorms that develop are
damaging wind gusts.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the entire forecast area
from mid day Monday into Monday evening due to critical fire weather
conditions expected as a result of dry conditions and gusty winds.
Critical to near critical fire weather conditions are possible again
on Tuesday.
