the Ocmulgee River near Abbeville.
* From Tuesday morning until further notice.
* At 8:45 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 10.7 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 12 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast to develop.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage Tuesday
morning and continue rising to a crest of 13.6 feet early Thursday
morning.
* Impact...At 10 feet, bankfull conditions begin upstream and
downstream from the gage at Highway 286 and water begins to spill
out into low lying areas of the flood plain.
* Impact...At 12 feet, flood Stage is reached with minor flooding of
the lowlands adjacent to the river beginning. The water level
reaches the top of the Abbeville boat ramp and begins to flood the
nearby park.
* Impact...At 13 feet, minor flooding of the lowlands adjacent to
the river continues to expand into the flood plain. Flooding of
the nearby park and parking lot at the Abbeville boat ramp expands
as well.

With strong high pressure centered over the NE states at 1035mb and ridging down the spine of the Appalachians into the Carolinas and the local area, just a beautiful early fall day is unfolding. Temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s for the most part along with dewpoints in the 40s has resulted in stellar conditions. The gradient continues for the area with winds consistently gusting in excess of 20 mph although these have slackened a bit in the last few hours. Another seasonably cool night in store with some area in the NE mountains seeing some lower 40s while lower 50s will be the rule for most other areas. Models do hint at winds maintaining a gust potential overnight if not increasing slightly and will keep elevated in the latest forecast.
