and Wilkinson Counties
.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.
The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United
States Geological Survey.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a
* Flood Warning for
The Oconee River near Dublin.
* From Sunday evening until further notice.
* At 3 PM Saturday the stage was 16.2 feet and rising.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 21 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by tomorrow evening and continue
to rise to near 25.7 feet by early Wednesday morning, with continued
rising possible.
* At 21 feet, flood stage is reached. Minor flooding begins in the
woodlands and natural flood plain along the river upstream and
downstream from the gage on U.S. Highway 80.
At 25 feet, moderate flooding begins. Significant flooding occurs
in the woodlands and agricutural areas upstream and downstream from
the gage on U.S. Highway 80. The flood waters will be around two feet
deep on Rex Miller Road, downstream left bank of the Highway 80 bridge
and Old River Lane, and upstream and left bank from the bridge. Some
of the homes on these roads will begin to experience flooding. With
continued rise, a few homes begin to flood on River Ridge Road,
downstream and right bank from the U.S. Highway 80 bridge.

* The river is forecast to fall to below flood stage by Sunday
morning.
* At 24 feet, minor flooding continues upstream and downstream
from the gage located around one half mile upstream from the
Georgia Highway 22 and 24 bridge. The parking lot and portions of
the Oconee River Greenway Park just downstream from the bridge will
be flooded. Low lying areas of woodlands and pasture near the river
will be flooded one to two feet deep. Sinclair Dam will likely have
two gates open to reach this height.

* At 12 PM Saturday the stage was 21 feet and rising.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and forecast to continue.
* Flood stage is 17 feet.
* Forecast to rise to a crest of near 24 feet on Sunday.
* At 23 feet, moderate flooding continues. Portions of the Old Balls
Ferry Road leading to the boat ramp becomes flooded with a foot of
water or more. The entire dirt parking lot near the boat ramp is
under three to five feet of water. Extensive flooding of the
woodlands near the river continues.
At 25 feet, major flooding occurs. Most of Old Balls Ferry Road
north of Georgia Highway 57 will be under one to three feet of
water. The water level reaches the bottom of the USGS gaging
equipment near the boat ramp. Widespread flooding up to several
feet deep of the woodlands near the river occurs.

will fall below flood stage by late Friday morning.
* At 15 feet...Minor flooding continues to expand into fields...
woodlands and pastures...mainly on the right bank of the river...

woodlands and wetlands along the river upstream and downstream from
a gage located by a dirt boat ramp on the west side of Avant Mine
off Adams Road in Washington County. The water level will be at the
top of the boat ramp.

foot of water or more. The entire dirt parking lot near the boat
ramp is under three to five feet of water. Extensive flooding of
the woodlands near the river continues.

* The river will continue rising to near 28.1 feet by tomorrow
morning then begin falling.
* At 27 feet...Significant flooding expands into the woodlands and
agricutural areas upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S.
Highway 80. The flood waters will be around 4 feet deep on Rex
Miller Road and Old River Lane. Several homes on these roads will
be under two feet of water. Also a few homes on River Ridge Road
will be flooded with a foot of water. Portions of the Riverview
Park Golf Course will be flooded.

* At 2 PM Monday the stage was 18.7 feet...and falling.
* Minor flooding will continue.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* The river will begin rising early Tuesday, and will continue
rising to near 20.2 feet by Thursday early afternoon. The river
will fall below flood stage early Saturday morning.
* At 20 feet...Minor flooding expands. An increasing amount of the
Macon GreenWay Ocmulgee Heritage Trail floods north of the Martin
Luther King Boulevard bridge. The flood waters will be around one
foot deep on portions of the trail and both banks overflow upstream
from the bridge. Large portions of agricultural lands well
downstream will be under one to three feet of water.

The Oconee River near Mount Vernon.
* Until further notice.
* At 9 AM Tuesday the stage was 16.4 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 16 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 20.6 feet by Thursday
morning then begin falling.
* At 21 feet...Significant flooding continues in the woodlands and
pastures upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S. Highway 280.
The lower portion of the access road to the boat ramp on the
Wheeler County side of the river is flooded. Around a dozen homes
on Dead River Road in the south end of Montgomery County become
flooded. Portions of Dead River Road will be covered by at least 3
feet of water.

Luther King Boulevard bridge. The flood waters will be around one

the gage on U.S. Highway 280. The access road to the boat ramp on
the Wheeler County side of the river begins to flood. Around a
dozen homes on Dead River Road in the south end of Montgomery
County become surrounded with water. A few homes will have some
flooding. Portions of Dead River Road will be covered by at least
two feet of water.

occurs in the woodlands and pastures upstream and downstream from
the gage on U.S. Highway 280. The access road to the boat ramp on
the Wheeler County side of the river begins to flood. Around a
dozen homes on Dead River Road in the south end of Montgomery
County become surrounded with water. A few homes will have some
flooding. Portions of Dead River Road will be covered by at least
two feet of water.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 257 PM EST Sat Feb 8 2020 .SHORT TERM /Tonight through Sunday Night/... A low-level shortwave trough is exiting the forecast area with only light showers remnant in central Georgia. But in its wake left 4-6" of snowfall in the Northeast Georgia mountains and 1-3" in several areas of north Georgia not specifically in the higher elevations. Even Atlanta received some aggregates ending the long streak of no snowfall for the city. Similar to yesterday, skies will stay locked in with low-level cloud cover through the afternoon and begin clearing from west to east around and just before dusk. The clearing will allow us to cool again to near freezing for most of the area, but with melting snow, high moisture from the rains and calm winds, several hazardous issues could present themselves tonight including patchy black ice for most of northern Georgia, and possible areas of freezing fog in and along the I-20 and I-85 corridors. For now, these threats will be discussed further in a Special Weather Statement. By Sunday, conditions should begin to improve with highs rising to the mid-50s to mid-60, clear skies, and the last day for a while with no precip. Monday, the next deluge begins. Thiem .LONG TERM /Monday through Saturday/... Main concerns in the long term period is heavy rain and flooding. 12Z guidance continue to indicate an extended period of strong/broad SWly flow aloft that began in the short term period. Moisture fetch originating from the E Pacific basin with significantly high PW values for this time of year. As mentioned in prev discussion, the ingredients for heavy rain and flooding coming together starting late Monday and continuing Tuesday. 12Z guidance still indicating 2 to 4 inches mainly over north and west GA for the 36 hour period from 12Z Mon to 00Z Wed. With extremely high streamflow and soil moisture, runoff potential will be correspondingly high. To add insult to injury, the SW flow stays in place and another wave expected to bring another round of rain, potentially heavy, on Thursday. A flood outlook (ESFFFC) was issued discussing the heavy rain and flood potential. The previous Long Term Discussion Follows... SNELSON LONG TERM /Sunday Night through Friday/... The long term portion begins as a rare quiet period across the forecast area but things will be changing quickly as we approach 12Z Monday. With persistent SW flow aloft, we are just going to get system after system affecting us through the long term. This first system looks to bring categorical pops to the northern portion of the area for Monday. This will expand southward for Monday night with almost all areas seeing sustained light to moderate rainfall. With the copious amounts of rain seen the last few days, it will not day much to add to the hydrology concerns already being experienced across the area. As a result, the northern zones have already been placed in a moderate risk excessive rainfall for day 3. Front stalls over the area as SW flow aloft just prevents fronts from making it through. Continued categorical pops and very unneeded rainfall in the offing for Tuesday as well. As a matter of fact, taking into account Wednesday rainfall along the front, models are indicating another 3 to 6 inches of rain north of I20. Will almost certainly need another flood watch with subsequent forecasts. Will be carrying thunder primarily for Central portions on Wednesday but no severe is anticipated at this time. System finally exits on Friday with high pressure building in its wake. This again could be short lived as another gulf system looks to bring additional high rain chances to the area per the GFS ECMWF is decidedly less bullish on this feature and will use a blend for now. Deese .AVIATION... 18Z Update... SNRA now beginning to move out of ATL sites and should occur at AHN by 20Z. SHRA to persist at MCN for the next several hours with clearing at CSG. IFR CIGS improving to MVFR in northern sites through the rest of the afternoon with VFR maintaining for CSG/MCN. Skies expected to mostly clear at all sites around 00Z with calm winds. A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for portions of North Central and Northeast Georgia until 8 PM this evening. While the snow has ended, many roads will remain slick and hazardous, especially where heavier snow was observed. Tonight temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for North and portions of Central Georgia roughly north of a line from La Grange to Macon to Jefferson which may cause hazardous road conditions. Black ice will be possible where water from rains or snow melt refreezes on untreated roadways creating slick conditions. Calm winds and some clearing skies will also allow for some patchy fog development over parts of north and central Georgia tonight. Where temperatures drop to near or below freezing, there is a chance that some freezing fog could develop which could also cause roads, bridges and overpasses to become slick. A fairly large area of 2 to 6 inches of snow fell over parts of north Georgia today. The greatest threat for black ice from refreezing snow melt will be over northeast Georgia north of a line from Calhoun to Canton to Commerce.
