* From 7 AM EST Wednesday through Thursday afternoon

* Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to occur Wednesday 
  through Thursday afternoon, with the highest amounts expected 
  to begin late Wednesday and taper off late Thursday morning. 
  The Watch area includes counties generally along and south of 
  Interstate 20. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 3.5 inches 
  are expected over the area, with the highest amounts focused 
  over middle Georgia. With high streamflows and already

.SHORT TERM /Today through Wednesday/...

Persistent southerly low-level flow over much of the southeastern
CONUS is allowing for continued deep moisture over the forecast
area. Dewpoints in the upper 50s to low 60s and precipitable water
values between 1.25" and 1.5" are in place across north and central
Georgia as a result of this moisture. With a surface warm front
moving northeastward out of the area, residual isolated showers, low
cloud ceilings, and patchy fog are in place across north Georgia as
the short term period begins. The relative break from showers early
this morning will be short-lived before the next shortwave
traversing the upper-level flow brings the next round of
precipitation into the area later this morning and afternoon. At the
surface, the cold front that has provided a focus for widespread
precipitation will continue to move southeastward from the Ozarks
towards north Georgia, and will progress into central Georgia this
afternoon. This front will continue to provide a focus for
widespread rain, with categorical PoPs entering north Georgia this
morning and spreading southward into central Georgia during the
afternoon hours. Widespread rain will lead to rainfall totals of up
to an inch across the forecast area today.

The warm and moist airmass in the area ahead of the front will allow
for sufficient instability to support thunderstorms during the late
morning and afternoon hours today, with SBCAPE values of 400-800
J/kg anticipated. Low-level wind shear of 30-35 kts and deep layer
bulk shear of 55-65 kts is also expected in the area ahead of the
cold front as it enters into central Georgia. 0-1km helicity values
in the 150-200 m2/s2 range are possible ahead of the front, as well.
With westerly bulk shear vectors oriented against the southerly
flow, it is possible to see a supercellular mode of convection in
portions of central Georgia during the afternoon today, in spite of
only modest lapse rates of 5.5 - 6 C/km. Nonetheless, some strong to
severe thunderstorms, capable of producing damaging wind gusts and a
brief tornado, are possible during the afternoon.

Another break in the precipitation is expected from Tuesday night
and into Wednesday morning as the cold front pushes south of the
forecast area. However, this break is also expected to be short-
lived, as a surface low over the Gulf Coast will bring another round
of heavy rain to the area during the daytime on Wednesday, primarily
focused in central Georgia. Likely to categorical PoPs will spread
northward first into central Georgia and then into north Georgia
throughout the day on Wednesday, bringing additional rainfall
amounts ranging from an inch in central Georgia to a quarter of an
inch in the far northern tier. The cumulative rainfall over today
and Wednesday will allow for an increasing threat for localized
flooding concerns.

Warm and moist air will contribute to warmer than average conditions
today, with low temperatures in the 50s across the area are running
15-20 degrees above climatological normals and highs in the upper
60s and low 70s this afternoon will run 5-10 degrees above
normal. Overnight lows tomorrow will range from the upper 40s in
north Georgia to mid 50s in central Georgia. Overcast skies and
the potential development of a CAD wedge on Wednesday afternoon
could lead to cooler highs on Wednesday - mainly in the upper 50s
to low 60s across the area.

.LONG TERM /Wednesday Night through Monday/...

Like a broken record, heavy rainfall will be ongoing at the start
of the extended Wed night across Central and S GA. One saving
grace for severe potential into Thu will be the confluent 500mb
flow over the Mid Atlantic states which typically allows for some
wedging to occur and is suggested by models, albeit not strong.
This combined with the southern stream system kicking out of the
Arklatex at such a low latitude, the baroclinic zone along the
Gulf will likely trap the instability and confine it to far
southern GA and the Gulf coast which models suggest in addition
to a surface low developing along the coast and tracking ENE south
of our region. Regardless..analysis of the isentropic surfaces
suggests strong isentropic lift aka upglide as the southern/main
shortwave approaches. Both the 300k and 295k surfaces showing
100mb of lift from CSG to DZJ within a saturated layer and PW's
increasing to 1 to 1.5 inches. So...expect a precip shield across
Southern GA to lift Northward through the evening and overnight
overtaking all of N GA by AM. Rainfall could get a bit heavy in
the early Thu AM timeframe as a result. Main upper low ejects out
during the day Thu so precip should end from west to east after
21z or so.

Friday through Sunday...All hail a nice weekend! Trof dominates
the eastern half of the country with surface ridging building in
Friday behind the departing system...making Friday the windiest
day of the weekend. Saturday and Sunday look pleasant with high
pressure overhead..so light winds and clear skies will prevail.

By Late Sunday, surface high shifts off the east coast and
moisture begins to return with southerly flow ahead of another
southern stream system. Rain chances return late Monday through
Tuesday as the system passes through. ECMWF and GFS differ on this
system and how it interacts with a northern stream wave. GFS would
suggest a longer period of wetness lingering into late Wed, while
the ECMWF exits the system a full 24 hours earlier. Confidence out
on day 7 not all that great as a result. But hey...enjoy the
weekend!!

18Z Update...
Ceilings hovering in the MVFR range but will lift into the VFR
range just before sunset. Will see MVFR ceilings move back in
Tuesday a precip moves back in. Showers across the area are
diminishing as the line moves a bit further south. should see a
few more showers at the TAF sites this afternoon then tapper off
just before sunset. Rain moves back in Tuesday afternoon. Wind
will stay out of the W to NW. Wind speeds are in the 10-20kt range
and will diminish to 10kt or less overnight and stay there
through the period.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight...

Rain continues across the area today, with isolated embedded
thunderstorms expected. Damaging winds will be possible with any
of the storms today along with the potential for a tornado or two,
primarily along and south of Interstate 20 through the late
afternoon.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday...

Multiple periods of moderate to heavy rain along with isolated
thunderstorms are expected across north Georgia and central
Georgia through Thursday morning. These multiple periods of rain
will lead to localized flooding concerns in north and central
Georgia. The heaviest rainfall period will be overnight Wednesday
