.SYNOPSIS...A persistent upper ridge will promote dry weather
across the region during the next seven days. In addition, warm
conditions will be likely over much of northwest California,
including the coast, during the next several days as offshore
winds strengthen in response to high pressure building over the
Great Basin.

.DISCUSSION...A large upper level ridge was positioned over the
NERN PAC this afternoon, while downstream NWLY flow aloft was
occurring across the West Coast. This synoptic regime favors dry
subsident conditions over NWRN CA, and model guidance indicates
the pattern will persist through the next seven days. Thus, rain
chances will be near zero for the foreseeable future. Otherwise,
surface high pressure building south over the Great Basin will
favor gusty offshore winds across the ridges of NWRN CA. The
offshore wind regime will promote warm temperatures across the
region, with highs in the 80s and 90s expected across interior
valleys tomorrow, followed by slightly cooler temperatures over
the weekend. Meanwhile at the coast, clear skies and easterly low-
level flow will favor mild temperatures in the 60s and 70s during
Friday. Thereafter, model guidance indicates patches of marine
stratus will begin to impact coastal areas Friday night into the
weekend, which may yield cooler conditions.

.AVIATION...Gusty northerlies are expected along the coast this
afternoon, particularly at KCEC. Mostly VFR conditions are
expected at all TAF sites through late this evening, though some
hazy conditions will likely impact all terminals and may cause
some dips in visibility down to MVFR. Offshore flow overnight will
likely keep stratus away from both coastal terminals, but some
localized spots may develop in the vicinity of Humboldt Bay.

.MARINE...A strong pressure gradient has lead to the development
of Gales over the outer waters. Gale Warnings are in place for
both zones through midnight and will drop off from south to north
during through mid-morning tomorrow. Winds will weaken slightly to
strong and near Gales over the outer waters late tonight and
these elevated winds are expected to persist through the weekend
over the outer waters. Nearshore waters are not expected to see as
strong winds, but some near Gales will be possible near Point
Saint George and in the vicinity of Cape Mendocino through this
weekend. Small Craft Advisories are in place for both inner zones.
Steep, short-period seas will continue to be hazardous and
chaotic sea state is expected through tomorrow. Seas up to 15 feet
will be possible in the outer waters through tonight, with up to
12 feet near prominent headlands/points in the inner waters. Seas
are expected to finally drop below 10 feet during the day on
Saturday.

.FIRE WEATHER...High pressure over the Great Basin will aid in
the occurrence of offshore winds gusting from 20 to 40 mph, warm
temperatures, and low humidity values across the ridges of
northwest California through Friday afternoon. Fast moving
wildfires will be possible as a result over Trinity, eastern
Mendocino, and Lake Counties, as well as portions of interior
Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Periods of dry breezy conditions
are expected to continue through the middle of next week.
