What forecasters said that day

The local office's own words before this small craft advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS Eureka, CA wrote its last area forecast discussion before this small craft advisory went out at Jun 26, 7:10 AM PDT, 4 hours 49 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, Jun 26, 7:10 AM PDT, 4 hours 49 minutes before
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...CORRECTED
National Weather Service Eureka CA
710 AM PDT Fri Jun 26 2020

.SYNOPSIS...Hot and dry conditions will persist through today across
the interior, followed by a cooling trend this weekend. Morning
cloudiness at the coast will give way to mostly sunny skies and
possibly some warmer temperatures in the afternoons.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Another hot day is in store for interior portions of
Northwest California today. Temperatures will climb into the upper
90s to 105+ in some of the warmer interior valleys this afternoon. A
Heat Advisory continues for portions of Trinity, Lake, interior
Humboldt, and interior Mendocino counties through this evening. At
the coast, morning low clouds will give way to some sunshine this
afternoon and evening, which may allow some places to warm up a
little. Some coastal areas may approach 70 degrees this afternoon.
A cooling trend is expected to kick off this weekend as both
deterministic and ensemble guidance show a trough digging
southward and deepening over the West Coast this weekend.
Afternoon highs are forecast to drop 5 to 10 degrees from Friday
to Saturday across the interior, with a more pronounced cooling
expected on Sunday as the trough deepens. No widespread rain
chances are expected to accompany this system, though a few
sprinkles around the Oregon border will be possible on Sunday.
Ensemble guidance then shows the trough slowly meandering to the
east early next week, with interior temperatures rebounding back
into the 90s by the middle of next week.

&&

.AVIATION...A robust zone of marine stratus was present along the
coast early Friday morning resulting in IFR to LIFR conditions at
both KCEC and KACV. Model guidance supports stratus dissipation this
afternoon...particularly at KCEC. However, north winds are forecast
to usher in another round of stratus late tonight. Otherwise, hot
and dry conditions will prevail across the interior, with thermally
driven west-northwest winds becoming locally gusty during late
afternoon into the evening. JMG

&&

.MARINE...Strong north winds are forecast to shift slightly west
away from the coast today...though locally gusty conditions are
expected in the vicinity of Pt St George and Cape Mendocino. Despite
the temporary weakness in winds, seas will remain elevated across
all coastal waters. Winds are then forecast to restrengthen during
Saturday, with gale forecast gusts probable over the outer
waters. Steep hazardous seas will also develop with the increase
in winds. Winds are then forecast to relax during Monday, followed
by restrengthening by mid-next-week. JMG

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Dry and gusty north to northeast winds will develop
over Lake County starting late on Sunday and into early Monday.
RH values will dip into the low 20s to upper teens across portions
of eastern Lake County on Monday.
