.SYNOPSIS...Rain is tapering off across the region at this time.
Another front will promote additional rain to much of Northwest
CA beginning Saturday evening, with additional shower activity
expected during Sunday. A period of dry weather may occur Monday,
followed by another round of rain during Tuesday.

.DISCUSSION...A weak front brought light precipitation to areas
mainly over Humboldt County today but has tapered off with very
light amounts observed around the region. Shortwave ridging is
forecast to occur during late Saturday morning into the afternoon,
which will bring a dry period most of the day on Saturday. The
next front will arrive early in the evening with a more moderate
amount of rain expected through Saturday night. Post frontal
showers are then forecast to occur during Sunday. In addition,
SREF calibrated thunder guidance and model forecast soundings
support a slight chance of thunderstorms along the coast and
adjacent coastal waters from midday Sunday through Sunday evening.
Upper heights are forecast to rise during Monday. Rain will
likely dissipate as a result. Additional rainfall is then expected
during Tuesday, and perhaps again next Thursday and Friday.

.AVIATION...VFR weather prevailed overnight through much of the afternoon as
multi-layers of broken mid-high clouds...and a few low clouds...
continued to sweep across the region. Light rain, associated with an
approaching warm front, began spreading over the region shortly
before 10 am (18z.) Rain had even spread into interior Mendocino. By
18z Both ACV and UKI reported light rain. For flights over higher
terrain, light snow was first reported shortly at Bridgeville around
2500 feet. Wet weather conditions are expected to last into the
evening with Cig/Vis occasionally dipping to MVFR...and possibly
into IFR. Flying conditions across the region should improve
tomorrow morning ahead of another front, which is expected to
approach the coast towards late Saturday afternoon.

.MARINE...Southerly winds will increase through the evening as a
warm front lifts north across the area. Advisory-level wind speeds
are expected to develop this evening through late tonight, with the
strongest gusts possibly reaching around 30 knots. Winds will
significantly diminish early Saturday morning before accelerating
from the south once again Saturday afternoon as another front
approaches, bringing another round of advisory-level conditions.
Winds will diminish once again Sunday, remaining relatively light
SW to W until yet another front approaches on Tuesday.
A solid WNW swell will build in on Sunday from a system expected to
deepen offshore, around 48N/145W. This swell may drive a coastal
flood threat and/or a high surf advisory. See the beach hazards

.BEACH HAZARDS...A large westerly swell is still forecast to enter
the waters late this weekend, with deep-water wave heights reaching
somewhere in the mid to high teens at around 16 seconds. Breaking
waves of 22 feet in the surf zone are possible from late Sunday into
Monday. This is borderline criteria for a High Surf Advisory.
Confidence should build regarding product issuance once we start
getting ASCAT passes of the intensifying fetch Saturday morning.
Either way, high astronomical tides are predicted to peak between
8.5 and 8.7 ft at the North Spit and Crescent City tide gages Sunday
and Monday. Ignoring surf heights, these high tides coupled with
expected tidal anomalies from strong southerly winds associated with
the passing frontal systems this weekend will likely present at
least minor coastal flooding issues around Humboldt Bay, and,
depending on surf heights, near Crescent City as well. Confidence
remains on the low side as specific timing of each of these factors
will be critical, but this will certainly bear watching into
