* WHAT...Temperatures as low as 32 will result in frost 
  formation.

* WHERE...Del Norte County, Northern Humboldt Coast, and 
  Mendocino Coast.

* WHEN...Through 9 AM Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if 
  left uncovered.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are issued during the local
growing season as defined by climatology and local agriculture
experts. Once the growing season has ended these statements will
no longer be issued until the spring.

.SYNOPSIS...A ridge of high pressure will continue to bring dry
conditions and cold overnight low temperatures to northwest
California through this weekend. There will be a slight chance for
rain Sunday night or Monday in Del Norte and Humboldt counties as
a weakening front moves through the region.

.DISCUSSION...Dry conditions will persist through Sunday as ridging
remains in place over the west coast. This is resulting in cold
overnight low temperatures and some areas along coastal areas
falling into the upper to mid 30s. There are some indications in the
higher resolution model guidance that stratus could reform along
some coastal locations tonight or Saturday night, but confidence
remains low on extent of this coverage. Currently the guidance is
producing too much stratus as compared to the current coverage off
the coast. We shall see how this pans out and this development will
have an impact on whether or not another round of frost advisories
for coastal areas, the only areas where the growing season is still
in effect besides interior Del Norte, will be needed.

A weakening front will bring increased cloud cover and a slight
chance of rain to the region Sunday night into Monday. Trends
continue to show only light rain possible with the best chances in
Del Norte County. Very little guidance is now indicating any chance
for rain south of Humboldt County. Beyond this little passing front
there is high confidence in the dry conditions returning for Tuesday
and Wednesday and likely at least through Thursday. /RPA

.AVIATION...Mostly clear skies and VFR conditions are prevailing at
all terminals this morning as a surface high pressure favors dry
subsident conditions over northern California. Patchy shallow fog
has developed across some inland valleys, but these conditions
are expected to clear during the morning hours. Otherwise, model
guidance are suggesting the development of marine stratus over the
offshore waters and nearshore along Cape Mendocino, and some of
this stratus may penetrate inland across coastal areas during
tonight.

.MARINE...Steep seas continue across the outer waters generating
small craft conditions through late morning. Small Craft Advisory
remain in effect for the outer waters through 20Z. Otherwise,
another long period northwesterly swell around 8 to 10 feet at 17
seconds is forecast to move through the waters today and Saturday,
followed by a more significant swell impacting the coastal waters
on Monday. Additional headlines will likely be needed.
