Tonight...Looks like another relatively mild overnight as southwest
flow aloft strengthens and a cold front approaches our western
counties late, helping to keep the low level mixing up.
Sunday...A rather strong Pacific origin cold front and shortwave
trough aloft move across our counties early in the day, with much
cooler temperatures, especially west of Interstate 25. Looks like
enough low and mid level moisture along with 500-300 mb and 700-500
mb quasigeostrophic lift to produce scattered to numerous showers,
mainly along and west of I-25. Downslope winds in the low levels will
limit shower coverage east of I-25. 700 mb temperatures drop to near
-4 Celsius by late afternoon. With the strength of the cold
advection, a rather windy day is expected.
Sunday night...Dry and cold as the low and mid levels dry out and
colder air infiltrates the region in the wake of the cold front.
Monday...Strong west northwest flow aloft will continue and based on
the low and mid level gradients and the Craig to Casper 850/700 mb
height differences, we may see winds approach high wind criteria
across our wind prone locations. Continued cool with 700 mb
temperatures near 2 Celsius, yielding maximum temperatures mainly
in the 60s to near 70 degrees.

Monday night-Saturday...Windy and relatively cool with strong
west northwest flow aloft. Cooler on Thursday behind a fast moving
cold front. Perhaps a chance of showers Wednesday and Wednesday
night associated with the cold frontal passage.

KLAR will continue in MVFR conditions until 12Z due to wildfire
smoke. KCYS, KRWL, and all western Nebraska Panhandle TAF sites
will continue in VFR conditions over the TAF period. A frontal
system brings strong wind gust and cloud cover across the region.
Wind gusts up to 40kts is possible throughout Sunday morning and afternoon
for Wyoming TAF sites KCYS, KLAR, and KRWL. Wind gusts up to
35kts is possible throughout Sunday morning and afternoon for all
Nebraska Panhandle sites. KRWL may receive rain showers from 14Z
to 16Z and ceilings will lower tremendously to five thousand feet.
It is possible for all sites to receive overcast skies for the
entire TAf period starting 06Z.
