A couple of evening updates to cancel/downgrade winter weather
headlines across southeast WY. Snow was gradually decreasing in
coverage and intensity, with most of the snow south of a Alliance
to Wheatland to Saratoga line, and will continue to taper off
through early Monday morning with additional accumulations from
one to three inches, highest over the mountains. Updates sent.

.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Monday)
Issued at 315 PM MST Sun Mar 1 2020

Early March winter weather event looks on track for accumulating
snow through late this evening with the heavier snow tapering off
to light snow showers after 1000 PM. All of the snow should come
to an end before sunrise outside of a few flurries near the
mountains. Will keep headlines as is for now, although snow is
struggling to accumulate on the roadways in most of the warning
areas. Advisories look good for now with occasional slick and
slushy roads. Current SNOTELS show mainly 1 to 3 inches of snow
accumulation so far, but will monitor what happens once the main
band moves through the region. Did note some drier air and warmer
temperatures near the Colorado border, which may be resulting in
lower precip rates south of I-80. Winds have not been a concern
this afternoon, with some increase in winds expected across Carbon
county this evening with high res models showing the gradient
increase a bit. Further east, hardly any snowfall across the
western Nebraska panhandle and far eastern Wyoming as expected.
Maybe an inch this evening for Scottsbluff, Sidney, and Alliance.

Slick and icy roads expected early Monday morning before
temperatures increase to near or above freezing by noon. Should be
a pretty quiet day for most locations, but the NAM and GFS are
now showing winds increasing across interior SE Wyoming through
the afternoon mainly west of the I-25 corridor including the wind
prone areas. All models show ample subsidence along and west of
the Laramie Range which remains steady through the day. Will have
to watch this since we'll likely have some snow on the ground
which may lead to a blowing snow issue if temperatures don't warm
up quickly.  Increased winds by 15 to 20 mph with gusts over 50
mph possible late Monday morning through the afternoon and evening
hours. Not confident enough for a High Wind Warning just yet with
local in-house models showing marginal criteria at this time
along with a slightly unfavorable wind direction. With the
increasing winds, temperatures will rebound quickly into the mid
30s to mid 40s across most of the area.

.LONG TERM...(Monday night through Sunday)
Issued at 156 PM MST Sun Mar 1 2020

Monday night/Tuesday...Not quite as cold Monday night as the airmass
moderates and with downslope west winds. Brisk northwest flow aloft
will help produce a breezy to windy day, along with warmer
temperatures as 700 temperatures will be near -5 Celsius.

Wednesday...The warming trend continues under northwest flow aloft
with 700 mb temperatures near -1 Celsius. Low and mid levels look
too dry for precipitation development.

Thursday...Although heights aloft rise, it will be slightly cooler
with upslope southeast winds at the surface.

Friday...A rather decent warming trend develops as the ridge axis
aloft moves off to our east, with southwest flow aloft over our
forecast area. With 700 mb temperatures near 2 Celsius, maximum
temperatures expected to rise into the 40s west of Interstate 25,
with mid 50s to mid 60s east of I-25.

Saturday...The mild temperatures will continue under brisk southwest
flow aloft as our counties remain in the warm sector ahead of the
next approaching shortwave trough aloft and its associated cold
front.

Sunday...A fast moving and progressive shortwave trough aloft and
its associated cold front move across our counties, producing a
chance of rain and snow showers, with colder temperatures in the
wake of the cold front.

Conditions to improve to all terminals during the overnight as
snow begins to taper off over the next several hours. Pockets of
