.SYNOPSIS...
A low moves from the southern Great Plains this afternoon to
near the Mid Ohio Valley by Saturday evening. This will cause a
high pressure ridge over our area to exit to the north and east
on Saturday. The aforementioned low should then reach Atlantic
waters near Nantucket Monday morning, allowing another high
pressure ridge to build eastward over our region Sunday night
into Monday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Clouds continue to try and erode over the western portions of
the forecast area and then more are back filling in from the
west. Clouds appear to be the result of a weak surface trough
moving east across the area and a warm front lifting north
toward the region. Can't rule out some light fog that will
develop over the western half of the area where periods of
clearing take place. Otherwise, no major changes with this
update.

Previous Discussion...

Dry weather likely persists the rest of today and overnight tonight
as a subtle and eastward-moving shortwave high pressure ridge crests
over our CWA. At the surface, a high centered near James Bay will
continue extending a ridge over our region. Elsewhere, a surface low
over the southern Great Plains this afternoon should reach the Mid
Mississippi Valley by daybreak Saturday. Isentropic lift well ahead
of this low should allow cloud cover to increase gradually over our
CWA from the southwest and west this evening and overnight tonight.
Light surface winds and residual moisture from recent rainfall may
allow patchy fog to develop via nocturnal cooling overnight tonight.
Low temperatures should reach the mid 30's to mid 40's, with the
coolest readings expected in interior northeast OH and northwest PA.

On Saturday, one shortwave trough digs southeastward over the
western Great Lakes region as another shortwave trough moves from
the Mid Mississippi Valley toward the Lower Ohio Valley. This will
cause the aforementioned surface low to deepen slightly as it moves
toward the Lower Ohio Valley by nightfall. This low track will cause
the surface high pressure ridge to exit our CWA to the north and
east. Most of the CWA should remain dry through early Saturday
afternoon. However, a deformation axis aloft and associated lift,
stemming from interaction between the two shortwave troughs, should
generate a band of primarily light rain over northwest OH between
daybreak and early afternoon. Later Saturday afternoon through
nightfall, widespread rain should overspread the rest of the CWA
from the south and west via moist isentropic lift. High temperatures
should reach the mid 50's to lower 60's Saturday afternoon. The
warmest readings are expected inland from Lake Erie.

The two shortwave troughs should merge over OH and vicinity Saturday
night as a mid- to upper-level low develops within the aggregate
shortwave trough. The associated surface low should drift
northeastward to near the Mid Ohio Valley by daybreak Sunday.
Isentropic lift will continue to generate periods of rain over our
CWA. This rain will be moderate to heavy at times as the isentropic
lift taps into abundant moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and
southern Gulf Stream. Low temperatures should settle into the
40's.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
The short term begins Sunday morning with models in good agreement
showing low pressure over southern Ohio. The low will track east and
should be near the NJ coast by 00Z Monday. There should be a sharp
moisture gradient to our northwest with drying expected through the
afternoon and evening as the deep moisture pulls east. Will have
categorical pops east down to chance northwest.  Late Sunday night
into Monday a brief ridge of high pressure will build in across the
area as further drying moves into the west. However for Sunday night
the NAM shows a short wave dropping south across the eastern half of
the area so will have to monitor for that. For now will keep a
chance pops far northeast after midnight. Monday looks mainly dry.
Tuesday a warm front will move northeast into the area as low
pressure and an associated cold front advance from the west. Main
concern will be for precip to move into the area along and ahead of
the warm front. Will have a slight chance of thunder south in the
grids. Temps will begin with highs in the lower 50s Sunday, range
from the upper 40s northeast to near 60 far west, and 55 to 65
Tuesday.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Tuesday night models continue the warm front northeast across the
area as the fairly deep, wrapped up low moves into northern IL.  The
cold front associated with the low will be moving east and reach
central Indiana by 12Z Wednesday.  The front will sweep east across
the region Wednesday morning.  Categorical pops look quite
reasonable for the day along with a chance of thunder.  Unfortunately
models agree that the low moves slowly east across Ohio Wednesday
night through Thursday.  Will continue with chance to likely pops
Wednesday night and Thursday with highest pops east. Wrap around
moisture remains across the east through Friday as well but will
begin to taper pops west. Highs around 60 Wednesday then highs drop
into the 50s Thursday and Friday.

.AVIATION /06Z Saturday THROUGH Wednesday/...
The main focus for the TAF period will be low pressure entering
from the southwest. Ahead of the low this morning, some rain and
clouds around 5 kft over Illinois and Indiana will progress east
along a warm front. While these clouds are expected to expand
with time over the airspace, rain should fizzle out over Indiana
before reaching any of the northern Ohio terminals. As low
pressure comes closer this afternoon, a larger mid level deck
of clouds will overtake the region and east to northeast winds
will increase over the region with gusts of 20 to 25 knots
possible. The low continues northeast tonight and will bring a
shield of rain to the region tonight into Sunday. The area of
rain is expected to pivot from southeast to northwest across the
area tonight, bringing non-VFR ceilings and reduced visibility.
Have timed in appropriate vicinity showers and rain at the
terminals for late in the TAF period. KTOL may escape a bulk of
the rain and have omitted for this TAF package.

Outlook...Non-VFR likely in periods of widespread rain through
Sunday. Periods rain may result in non-VFR Monday night into
Tuesday and again Tuesday night and Wednesday.

.MARINE...
Weak high pressure will build in from the north tonight keeping
winds light but from the east. Winds will increase from the
northeast on Saturday reaching 15 to 20 knots by late afternoon as
low pressure moves into KY. Winds should reach 20 to 25 knots
Saturday night through Sunday as the low moves east through the
lower Ohio Valley.  Winds will turn more northerly and diminish
Sunday night into early Monday as it moves off the east coast.
Will likely need a small craft advisory for Saturday evening through
Sunday night. Winds will remain light Monday through Tuesday.
Tuesday night low pressure will approach from the west reaching Lake
Michigan by Wednesday morning. Expecting southerly winds to increase
to 15 to 20 knots Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with winds
turning southwest behind a cold front in the afternoon.  There is a
chance that another small craft headline will be needed with the
front Wednesday but given southerly flow Tuesday night am not
expecting a headline at that point.
