series of back building storms are expected to develop along this
boundary bringing multiple rounds of heavy rain through late
morning Saturday. A widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain are likely
along a line from Findlay to Mansfield, with locally higher
amounts of 3 inches or greater.

.SYNOPSIS...
A ridge of high pressure will build east across the local area
today. A warm front will lift north toward the area tonight and
move north of the area Saturday night. Deep low pressure will
move into the western Great Lakes by Sunday morning forcing a
cold front east across the area Saturday night. As the low
pressure system moves northeast of the area Sunday night, a
trough will linger back across the local area. A ridge of high
pressure extending south from northern Canada will build east
across the area Monday night. Another low pressure system will
move east across the Tennessee Valley through mid week extending
a trough north across the local area.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Added in patchy fog for the southwest and southeast portions of
our area this morning through noon as a stubborn inversion
remains entrenched over much of the area this morning. Also
added in heavy rain wording tonight, especially 2-8 am Saturday,
and increased PoPs to categorical during this timeframe. Models
are beginning to come into agreement of a line of heavy showers
and thunderstorms which may backbuild and train in an area along
US-30 and along and west of I-71. Expectation is for a Flash
Flood Watch to be issued later this morning/afternoon in this
area.

A weak upper level shortwave trough and associated positive
vorticity maximum continues to move east of the area at this
time. This feature along with a surface cold front resulted in
some rain activity overnight but the bulk of that activity is
now east of the local area. This trend will continue through the
morning hours and drier air will move into the region with the
weak surface ridging. Our next weather maker is already showing
up on radar across Missouri and Illinois at this time. An area
of showers and thunderstorms were moving east along a stationary
front that will eventually become a warm front later today. The
warm front is progged to move north toward the area by
Saturday. The models show differing solutions on the tracking of
the warm front. The GFS is the most pessimistic while the
European is the most aggressive in forward motion. The rest of
the models are in between. Leaned in the direction of the
European this morning as nose of the mid level jet surges
northeast Saturday evening suggesting warm front will become
progressive after this forecast period. In the interim, the warm
front appears that it will stall for about a 6 hour period
beginning late Saturday afternoon just south of the lake. There
is uncertainty on where axis of the heavier rain will occur so
after coordination with surrounding offices, will hold off on
issuing any flood watch at this time. However, even though
beyond this period, as convection develops, can't rule out some
heavy rainers that could produce some localized flooding;
especially in the northern tier counties.

In the mean time, after passage of weak cold front this morning,
temperatures will be cooler today than yesterday. Fair weather
will return under the influence of the high pressure ridge.
Showers will begin to spread into the southwest portions of the
area tonight and much of the area by morning in advance of the
warm front. Showers and a few embedded thunderstorms expected
Saturday as the warm front approaches. There is the possibility
for severe thunderstorms along the warm front by late Saturday
afternoon into the evening. Temperatures will take a dip
tonight and then surge well into the 60s Saturday over much of
the area. Exception is the extreme northeast in northwest
Pennsylvania where temperatures will remain in the lower 50s for
highs tomorrow.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
Atmospheric parameters in the high-res forecast models are starting
to be a little more robust and concerning for severe weather across
northern Ohio into northwest Pennsylvania Saturday evening through
early Sunday morning. There will be two time areas and time frame to
be watching for the threat of severe weather across the area. A warm
front will be slowly lifting northward across northern Ohio Saturday
evening. Models indicate this frontal boundary may slow down or
briefly stall near the lakeshore Saturday evening before it gets
push northward across Lake Erie. Saturday evening and night
convection will need to be monitored because dewpoints will be in
the low 60s pooling along and south of that frontal boundary.
Helicity values will be 300 to 400 which is plenty high. Most
unstable CAPE values will be approaching 1000 to 1200 J/KG. Forecast
model Low level CAPE 0-1km values may be around 200 to 400 J/KG.
0-6km Bulk shear values will be on the order of 60 to 75 knots which
very high shear. Any convection along this warm front as it moves
northward may have a large hail and isolated tornado threat Saturday
evening into Saturday night. As we look later Saturday night into
early Sunday morning, we will be watching severe storms move across
the Ohio Valley from the west into Ohio after midnight. These storms
will continue to feed off an unstable warm sector late into the
night with a damaging wind, large hail, and isolated tornado threat.
We expect a broken lines of storms with a couple discreet cells
possible in the broken line late in the night. We agree with the SPC
day 2 outlook regarding the a slight risk for severe storms. Any
training of heavier convection over saturated ground may add to a
localized flash flooding threat as well.

The cold front will move through early Sunday morning with our max
temperatures in the middle to upper 60s occurring early in the
morning. Temperatures will fall during the day on Sunday along with
gusty southwest to westerly winds 25 to 40 mph.  We may get close to
wind advisory criteria for some areas of northwest Ohio. The strong
low pressure system will move across Ontario and Quebec Sunday night
into Monday morning. Wrap around clouds and occasional scattered
rain showers will be possible Sunday night into Monday with
temperatures in the 40s and blustery.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
High pressure north of the Great Lakes region will ridge down
across the eastern Great Lakes Monday night into Tuesday. But a
northeasterly flow off the lake will continue to bring lake
effect clouds. We don't expect to clear out of the clouds before
the next system impacts the area late Tuesday. Another stout
upper level wave will move across the Ohio Valley late Tuesday
into Wednesday. A surface low pressure system will also develop
in the lower Ohio Valley and move towards Upstate New York by
early Thursday. It will remain cool, wet with off and on rain
showers and blustery for the middle of next week.

.AVIATION /12Z Friday THROUGH Tuesday/...
Some lingering lower clouds and fog will persist into the day
today and then gradually improve by this afternoon. A warm
front will begin to push north toward the local area tonight and
bring with it more rain and lowering ceilings; especially in
the southwest portions of the forecast area early tonight and
the entire forecast area overnight tonight. Winds will
generally be light through the period but begin to increase
toward the end of the period at Erie.

.OUTLOOK...Non-VFR conditions possible through Sunday in
intermittent periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms.

.MARINE...
Weak high pressure north of the Great Lakes today will continue a
light northeast surface flow 5 to 10 knots. A frontal boundary
across the Ohio Valley will sharpen up and slowly move northward as
a warm front late tonight into Saturday. The northeast to easterly
surface flow over the lake will also increase due to the pressure
gradient. Waves will increase due to easterly winds increasing 15 to
20 knots late tonight into Saturday. SCA may be needed by late
tonight through the weekend. We will also be concern about the
extended time of the easterly flow piling water on the western basin
of the lake and possible some minor lakeshore flooding. That will an
something to monitor tonight into Saturday. The warm front will move
across the lake late Saturday with a change to southerly and
southwesterly winds increase 20 to 25 knots late Saturday and
Saturday night. A cold front will move across the lake early Sunday
morning with a strong area of low pressure moving across Ontario and
Quebec by Sunday. Southwest to westerly winds will increase 20 to 30
knots with gusts likely up to 40 knots. High end SCA conditions will
continua on Sunday with possible low end Gales during the day
Sunday. The low moves away from the region on Monday with north to
northwest winds relaxing down to around 10 to 15 knots.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north central Ohio, northeast
Ohio, northwest Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Rain, heavy at times, and embedded thunderstorms are likely
at times Friday evening through Saturday night. With rainfall of 1
to 2 inches, and locally higher amounts, some flooding will be
possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

There will be a marginal risk for isolated severe thunderstorms late
tonight into Saturday morning with large hail as the main threat. The
severe weather threat will increase to a slight risk Saturday evening
into early Sunday morning with a threat for damaging winds, large
hail, and an isolated tornado possible. Localized heavy rainfall and
isolated flash flooding may also be possible Saturday and Saturday
night.

Strong gusty southwest to westerly winds between 35 and 45 mph will
be possible on Sunday.
