.SYNOPSIS...
Deepening low pressure will bring strong winds to the region on
Wednesday along with potential for an isolated strong thunderstorm.
Cold front tied to the low passes by Wednesday afternoon and will
allow Fall weather to return for one day. However, notably milder
weather can be expected as we head into the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/...
Weak convergence has brought a few showers to the Saint Lawrence
Valley region, otherwise our area remains quiet this evening. As
moisture increases from the northwest tonight, weak isentropic lift
showers will become possible...favored for the second half of the
night. It will be a mild night with overnight lows within the steady
southerly flow not dropping out of the 50s for most areas. This will
be some 10 to 15 degrees above normal lows for this time of year.

Once front moves into WNY by late morning, soundings indicate that
much of these stronger winds will try to mix down. Also indications
that there may be leading band of showers/isold thunder with the
front which only further helps the mixing. With the convection
forming in 250 - 500 J/KG of MUCAPE, isolated damaging wind gusts
will be possible as these low topped storms could aid in the
transportation of the strong LLJ down to the surface.

These showers and developing gusty westerly synoptic wind gusts (45-
50 mph) will shift across region, reaching eastern areas southeast
and east of Lake Ontario by midday. In wake of the front, a 3-6 hour
period of advisory level wind gusts are expected over western NY.
Strong winds look to last later into the afternoon from Genesee
Valley/Finger Lakes and to east of Lake Ontario as strongest winds
by aftn will be focused off southeast Lake Ontario. Coordinated with
surrounding offices and went with wind advisory on Wednesday for all
of our area.

On Wednesday night, winds and risk of thunderstorms diminish by
early evening as sfc low quickly moves toward Canadian Maritimes.
As temps aloft fall to 0-2C at H85 and flow is slightly cyclonic fm
northwest with some lingering background moisture, lake effect
clouds and some lake effect showers will try to develop to south and
southeast of Lake Ontario. Kept general theme of high chance to low-
end likely pops. Lows fall into the lower 40s across much of the
area.

&&

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Sfc high pressure will build into the Ohio Valley on Thursday. Lots
of factors will work against any sustained organized lake effect in
the wake of cold front despite a chilly airmass aloft with H850T's
of 0C to -2C. With a lowering subsidence inversion, dry northwest
flow, and short fetch these factors will combine to effectively put
a gradual end to any lake induced showers. However, there will be a
fair amount of cloudiness around especially in the favored upslope
areas east and southeast of the lakes. With a chilly airmass in
place highs will average a bit below normal with low/mid 50s for
most locations.

High pressure then passes by to our south and builds into the Mid-
Atlantic for Thursday night through Friday. It will maintain dry and
tranquil weather all while southwesterly flow picks up on the
western peripheral of the high. This will encourage a warming trend
as we head into Saturday. Saturday, there could be a few late
afternoon showers as low pressure tracking east across Quebec sends
a weak front southeast through the lower lakes. Otherwise, highs
will will climb into the low/mid 60s Friday then into the low to
even mid/upper 70s Saturday across the Genesee Valley and Finger
Lakes region.

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Dry weather likely to be maintained Sunday with strong sfc ridge
tracking by to our north influencing the lower lakes.

After Sunday, remnants of Hurricane Delta may or may NOT impact the
lower lakes. The GFS and Canadian bring the system up to the region
by late Sunday night as a weaker area of low pressure, while the
ECMWF brings the system north slower, and then phasing with a trough
that crosses the center of the lower 48 states. The ECMWF solution
would result in one ~24 hour period of rain/showers as the
combination of the tropical remnants and front moves through. The
GFS solution brings Delta up near the NY/PA boarder Monday then the
system to our west kicks it out to sea. The system to our west then
sends it front across the region by midweek. Low confidence in the
various guidance packages right now so have kept with low end chance
POPs as we head towards the end of the period. High temps look
likely to average above normal during this period.

&&

.AVIATION /00Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
For the 00Z TAFS VFR flight conditions start the period, and these
conditions will largely continue through this TAF cycle. There will
be brief times of the ceiling heights lowering to MVFR within
showers, but confidence is not high on timing yet for the TAFS.

The greatest concern this TAF cycle will be developing stronger
winds. Initially a 50 knot LLJ at 850 hPa, and 40 knots near 2k feet
will develop late tonight, prompting LLWS within the western site
TAFS. A cold front will pass across the TAF region midday tomorrow
from west to east and winds will likely increase both ahead and
behind the front. Westerly gusts through the afternoon could reach
40 knots at the airfields. West-northwesterly winds will begin to
slowly diminish around sunset tomorrow.

Outlook...

Wednesday night and Thursday...VFR/MVFR with a chance of showers.
Friday through Sunday...VFR. Breezy conditions with gusts to 30 kts
possible on Saturday.

.MARINE...
Southwest winds remain breezy tonight, then veer to west and
increase sharply beginning late tonight as low pressure and cold
front cross the region. Strong winds with wind gusts as high as 40
kts expected into early afternoon on Lake Erie and through late
afternoon on Lake Ontario behind the cold front. Gale warnings are
in effect across all waters. Small craft conditions will become
likely on the Niagara and Saint Lawrence River.

While winds will diminish as the storm exits the Canadian maritimes
Wednesday night...waves will remain high enough to warrant small
craft advisories for at least the first half of the night.

Moderate to occasionally fresh northwesterlies will then be in place
ahead of high pressure that will be centered over the Upper Great
Lakes. This may warrant a continuation of SCAs for the southeast
portion of Lk Ontario.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
Westerly winds will increase to 35 to 40 knots on the eastern half
of Lake Ontario on Wednesday. This will result in significant wave
action on the east end of the lake, particularly in the nearshore
waters of Oswego and Cayuga counties. While the lake level has
dropped considerably over the past several months, the significant
wave action will result in some lake shore flooding Wednesday
afternoon and early evening for both counties so a Lakeshore Flood
Warning has been issued for these counties.
