.SYNOPSIS...

Dry weather prevails today and most of tonight as a high
pressure passes by. A warm front moves across the region Sunday,
bringing increasing humidity and perhaps a few thunderstorms
across interior southern New England Sunday afternoon and
evening. The main concern will be Tuesday into early Wednesday,
as southern New England remains in the cone of uncertainty for
Hurricane Isaias. Seasonable summer weather should return
later Wednesday through the remainder of the next work week.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...

145 PM Update...

Partly to mostly sunny skies at mid afternoon with just some
fair weather diurnal CU. Temps should climb a few more degrees
away from sea breezes on the immediate coast. Highs should top
out in the upper 80s in many locations with a few lower 90s.
Temps a few degrees lower on the immediate coast with sea
breezes, but still a very nice summer afternoon.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM SUNDAY/...
Remaining mostly dry tonight, although clouds will be increasing
as a warm front approaches, then moves through our region
Sunday. A few showers may approach from the west late tonight.
Increasing humidity tonight, with a more tropical feel Sunday.

Convective potential Sunday will be tricky. While a mid level
shortwave should be approaching late in the day, there should
also be weak mid level ridging during the daytime that any
convection would need to overcome. At this point, cannot
completely dismiss the idea of a few strong to possibly severe
thunderstorms, the greater probability for stronger
thunderstorms will be to our west. Will need to see how the
timing of these features evolve over the next 24 hours. At this
time, will maintain a mention of showers and thunderstorms
across interior southern New England Sunday.

Temperatures trending to above normal, especially Sunday during
the day.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...

Highlights...

* Break in the rain Monday before more widespread rain returns
  ahead of Hurricane Isaias around Tuesday

* Southern New England remains in the cone of uncertainty of
  Hurricane Isaias which may impact the region Tuesday into
  early Wednesday.

* High pressure and dry weather return late week with seasonable
  temperatures

Details...

As the surface low lifts into Quebec on Monday, high pressure
briefly slides in between systems, bringing a respite from the
rain chances for most of the day.

The main focus for impactful weather will be early Tuesday
through Wednesday. This is generally the envelope of time that
guidance suggests a Bermuda high over the Atlantic together with
a mid level trough over the Ohio Valley will direct Isaias up
the east coast. The synoptic setup is favorable for a track in
our vicinity, but there remains a high degree of uncertainty as
to the track and timing of the system. Even a small shift in
track will have a large impact on who sees what, rain and wind
wise. The track will also have a large impact the strength of
the storm. While SSTs are anomalously warm along the eastern
seaboard which would be favorable for strengthening, if it
skirts the land along the southeast and Mid Atlantic rather than
staying offshore, it would be favorable for a weaker system up
here. Timing wise, the GFS has slowed up a good deal bringing it
in line with the EC/EPS, perhaps owing to supplemental upper
air data now being ingested. Current forecasts from the NHC peg
the storm around our latitude by late Tuesday. Given the time
range, all options remain on the table with regard to track and
timing. Something to keep in mind would be the potential for a
plume of heavy rain well ahead of the system somewhere over the
northeast given components of a Predecessor Rain Event (PRE) are
in place. The region is situated beneath the RRQ of a 95 kt
upper level jet with a theta-e ridge axis in place and some
upslope component to the low level winds. The PWAT plume ahead
of the trough is rooted in the tropics and likely surpasses 2"
by Tuesday which would allow for heavy rainfall.

After Isaias departs the latter half of the week looks much
improved as we some mid level ridging and sfc high pressure
keeping things dry with seasonable temperatures.

Low - less than 30 percent.
Moderate - 30 to 60 percent.
High - greater than 60 percent.

18Z Update...

Tonight...High confidence. VFR conditions except for some
localized patchy ground fog in the typical Valleys and near the
far southeast New England coast. Light S winds.

Sunday...Moderate confidence. VFR in the morning, but some MVFR
CIGS likely develop across the interior during the afternoon. A
few showers possible across the interior with the low risk of an
isolated t-storm or two. S winds of 10 to 15 knots by afternoon
with gusts into the lower 20 knots expected.

Sunday night...Moderate confidence. A band of MVFR even
localized IFR cigs possible Sunday evening, but improvement to
VFR may occur in many locales after 6z other than localized fog
patches. SSW wind of 5 to 10 knots and a bit stronger on the
Cape & Islands. Mainly dry weather expected, but an isolated
shower/t-storm can not be ruled out.

KBOS Terminal...High confidence in TAF. Sea breezes come to an
end between 01z and 03z this evening.
