.AVIATION...
VFR conditions expected throughout the 18Z TAF period. Main
weather highlight will be the strong winds. Southwest winds to
start the AF period at 10-20 kts will shift to northwesterly
behind passing cold front; moving through all TAF sites between
07Z and 12Z Tuesday. Winds after cold front passage will increase
to sustained of 25-35 kts with gusts potentially over 50 kts at
times through to the end of the TAF period, especially for KGUY.

SHORT TERM...Today through Tuesday Night...
A busy short term given the lack of precipitation. Winds will be
the main concern. Today's winds and RH threat will bring elevated
to critical Fire Weather conditions (See Fire Weather Discussion).
Upper level trof will continue to move closer to the Four Corners
Region today, with enhanced southwest flow. Winds are not as
strong aloft as they were yesterday, but surface gradients will
still be strong enough to bring winds in the 20-25 mph range with
gusts up to 35 mph. It will be another pretty dry day today with
a sharp dryline setup over the central to eastern Panhandles.
Dewpoints look to end up in the 50s to 60s east of the dryline,
and could be as low as the teens to 20s on the west side of the
dryline. Right now the atmosphere looks capped enough east of the
dryline that we wont see any storms. No subtle impulses that look
like they could aid in lift to get a storm going. But it's not a
zero chance. If a storm manages to break the cap (less than 10
percent confidence) then it could go severe given 1500+ J/kg of SB
CAPE.

Cold front will move through tonight, and there is no question
that it will be a breezy to windy cold front, but we have some
issues that still need to be ironed out. Very strong LLJ expected
to set up somewhere from eastern CO to central KS during peak
heating Tuesday. This will allow for strong mixing and potential
for very strong wind gusts. The next issue will be the highs on
Tuesday. Models strongly differ that highs could be in the low 60s
to the low 80s across the OK Panhandle. For now we focused on the
threat for high winds with a High Wind Watch across the northern
and central Panhandles. Will note that it's highly contingent on
where the jet maxima sets up, and expect some counties will be
added/removed as we hone in on where that maxima will be. Will
also note that the maximum potential wind gusts could be up to 75
mph, but just where that may occur is uncertain. Winds expected to
drop off quickly to light and variable after sunset on Tuesday.

FIRE WEATHER...
Elevated to critical Fire Weather expected again today. RH values
as low as 7 percent with winds 15 to 25 mph will put RFTI values
in the 4 to 7 range. Red Flag Warnings have been extended to
include the next stack of counties east, which includes the
Amarillo area. Elevated Fire Weather expected for the rest of the
Panhandles except the far eastern Panhandles.

Tonight into Tuesday could pose another Fire Weather risk. Right
now it's difficult to say, the temperatures will play a huge role,
as the winds should trigger widespread 2 to 4 across the
Panhandles, the RH values could shut down the RFTI's all together
if the temps are cold enough to push the RH's over 35 percent, but
there are models that suggest we could be mild and dry with less
wind, but that would still trigger RFTI's around the 2 to 4 range.
Either way fire officials should be on alert for critical or
elevated Fire Weather on Tuesday.

LONG TERM... Pressure gradient is expected to relax on Wednesday
as upper level trough moves into the western Great Lakes. So
expect lighter winds more in the 10 to 15 mph range.

Upper level ridge briefly builds across the Rockies on Thursday and
this will put the Panhandles in a northwest flow aloft.  Models want
to bring an upper level disturbance through this northwest flow
across the Panhandles during late afternoon and early evening. This
disturbance may be strong enough to set off a few showers and
thunderstorms across the southern Texas Panhandle, so have kept low
pops going there.  Moisture may be lacking, so do not think the rain
will be too widespread.

Upper level ridge moves into Plains on Friday and this puts the
Panhandles in a southwest flow aloft ahead of an upper level trough
pushing onshore along the west coast.  Moisture will be brought
northward on the back side of the high and this moisture combined
with a weak disturbance may bring some showers and thunderstorms to
the western Panhandles Friday afternoon and Friday evening.

Next weekend is expected to be dry at this time as the best
moisture axis remains just to our west.

High temperatures look to be above normal from Wednesday through
next weekend, but not as hot as it has been lately.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Texas and Oklahoma
Panhandles.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected across
all but the far eastern Panhandles through mid evening. A Red Flag
Warning is in effect until 9 pm across the western and central
Oklahoma Panhandle and the western Texas Panhandle for low
relative humidity and breezy southwest winds.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Elevated to critical fire weather conditions will be possible
across the Panhandles on Tuesday due to windy conditions and low
relative humidity.

A cold front will bring strong northwest winds to the Texas and
Oklahoma Panhandles Tuesday. Winds will be in the 35 to 45 mph
range with higher gusts. A High Wind Watch is in effect for the
Oklahoma Panhandle and much of the northern half of the Texas
Panhandle on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms will be possible across the southern Texas Panhandle
Thursday evening and across the western Panhandles Friday
afternoon and evening. Severe thunderstorms are not expected at
this time. However, some of the storms may produce hail and strong
gusty winds.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not anticipated at this time.

Area fire managers and emergency officials should be alert for
