.SYNOPSIS...
Very cold conditions will persist over most valley level locations
through the end of the week, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s
below in most areas with a few 50s below over the Eastern
Interior. Still have wind chill advisories around the Central
Interior cause we still have a decent pressure gradient through
Saturday afternoon. A front will move across the west coast
tonight and another push of precipitation Saturday into Sunday.
Expecting snow and low visibility for Saint Lawrence Island
on Saturday and 6 to 10 inches of snow possible for the Seward
Penn Saturday night into Sunday. A brief warm up for the Interior
for the start of the week but turning colder again later in the
week.

.DISCUSSION...
Aloft at 500 mb, Ridging will persist over much of the state through
Sunday. A long wave trough will set up over the Bering Sea
through the weekend. 850 MB temps range from-16C to -20C, with
the coldest temps over the Eastern Interior. Slight rise in 850
temps through the weekend. The ridge will slide to the east by
Sunday and westerly flow and warmer air will set up over the
Interior by early next week which should moderate temperatures
across the Interior.

Surface...High pressure over mainland Alaska will slowly move E.
A 965 mb low 150 nm N of Kiska will move to the Western Gulf of
Anadyr by Sun morning. A weather front will move NE across the
area tonight as it dissipates. Another weather front will move NE
across the area Saturday evening. As the low move N the pressure
gradient will tighten across the area with winds strengthening.

Arctic Coast and Brooks Range...Mostly clear skies through the day.
Winds generally less than 10 mph today, but will be picking up
and swinging around to southeast as low pressure pushes east over
the Arctic Plains. Temperatures will remain cold, but do warm a
few degrees over the next couple days. As the leeside troughing
develops north of the Brooks Range, gusty south winds will develop
near passes. Expect some blowing and drifting snow to develop
with reduce visibility near the passes.

West Coast and Western Interior...A decaying front will move to
the Lower Yukon Delta and St Lawrence Island tonight into Saturday
morning, bringing some snow and blowing snow for Saint Lawrence
Island. A second front will move across the west coast Saturday
afternoon into Sunday with a little more punch with more snow and
blowing snow. 6 to 10 inches are possible for the Seward Penn.
A winter storm warning has been issued for zone 211. Temperatures
have warmed up enought to cancel the wind chill advisories that
were out for the Yukon Delta. Snow will push inland on Sunday
bringing around 2 to 4 inches of snow from Galena south on Sunday.

Central and Eastern Interior:
Patchy ice fog will continue around the Fairbanks area through
Friday morning. Surface temperatures will remain cold through the
week. Expecting 30 to 40 below over the Central Interior and 40 to
50 below over the eastern Interior for Saturday morning. Slightly
warmer on Sunday. Wind chill advisories are still in effect for
portions of the Central and Southern Interiors through Saturday
afternoon. A brief warm up for the Interior for the start of the
week but turning colder again later in the week.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.
