.SYNOPSIS FOR NORTHWEST COAST...
High pressure over the North Slope and Interior Alaska will build
through Thu then persist into Fri. A strong low south of Shemya
will move to the central Bering Sea by 3pm Thu, then move to near
Anadyr by 3am Fri and then weaken. A second strong low will move 
north into the western Bering Sea on Fri, and to the Central 
Bering Sea on Sat.

.SYNOPSIS...
Very cold wind chills to 65 below now occuring over the North
Slope will persist into Wed AM. Very cold conditions will persist
over most of Northern Alaska through the end of the week, with
temperatures in the 30s and 40s below in most areas with a few 50s
below. Cloudy and breezy areas will be in the 10 below to 30
below range.

.DISCUSSION...
Aloft at 500 mb, closed upper low over the Interior will drift to
the southeast and weaken by Wednesday morning. Ridging will
persist over the north slope through Thursday. Troughing will
develop over the western Bering Sea by Friday. 850 MB temps range
from -20C to -24C, with the coldest temps over the Interior.
Expect little change today, then will see temps over the West
Coast and Western Interior rising slowly Wed into Thu with -10C
along the Coast by Thu, while the Interior and North Slope from
Fairbanks and Deadhorse east remain -20C or colder through Fri and
possibly into the weekend.

Surface...A weather front stretching from Banks Island west along
73N will move to lie from Demarcation Point to Point Barrow by
3pm Tue, then move southeast on Tue night. High pressure over the
north slope will persist into Thursday.

North Slope Brooks Range:
Very cold wind chills to 65 below now occuring over the North
Slope will persist into Wed AM. Very cold conditions will persist
over most of Northern Alaska through Wednesday.

West Coast and Western Interior:
A weather in the southwest Bering Sea will move to the southeast
Bering Sea by 3pm Wed, and from St Matthew Island to Bristol Bay
by 3pm Thu. This front, combined with the high pressure over the
Interior, will cause east winds to increase to 10-20 mph along the
West Coast on Wed, and to 20-30 mph along the West Coast by Wed
night and Fri. Wind chill advisories are out for southern west
coast through Thursday morning.

Central and Eastern Interior:
A low aloft over the Interior will persist this afternoon, move to
the Eastern Alaska Range tonight, and then move southeast of the
Wrangel Mtns on Wed. This is causing areas of clouds and flurries
over much of the Interior, clearing over the Central Interior
tonight and clearing over the Eastern Interior on Wed.
Temperatures will fall as skies clear. Surface temperatures will
remain cold through the week. Expecting 30 to 45 below over the
Central Interior and 45 to 53 below over the eastern Interior.
Coldest days being Thursday and Friday. Also expecting the Tanana
Valley Jet to ramp up Wednesday night with gusts to 30 mph. Wind
chill advisories have been issued for zones 223 and 225.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.
