wintry mix with accumulations. System exists early next week with
high pressure then trying to build in.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 150 PM Friday...
Clearing continues to occur from south to north across the CWA
this afternoon, but today will be the last day of experiencing
sunshine until possibly the middle of next week.
Clouds will increase tonight as the next storm system approaches
the region. Precip should develop late in the night (timing of
onset of precip is still a little questionable as some drier air
in the lower levels may delay onset a bit) and then overspread
the region Saturday morning. Precip should start off as snow,
but then transition to a rain/snow mix, and then eventually all
rain for the southern half of the Lowlands down to the SW VA
corridor as warmer llvl air tries to nose into the region. Farther
north, the rain/snow line transition will depend on how far north
the surface trough/quasi-warm front can make it. For now, have the
best chances of all snow being confined to SE Ohio and the mountains
of WV. Accumulating snow may occur in the morning across most of the
area, but then melt/partially melt in the afternoon in those areas
that receive a transition to rain. Elsewhere, snowfall amounts of a
few inches will be possible. Will maintain the Winter Weather Adv
for everywhere but the mountains (where a Winter Storm Warning will
be in effect). Note that although snowfall amounts may not reach
Winter Weather Advisory levels across portions of the
central/southern CWA, travel impacts are still expected at times,
especially Saturday morning.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
As of 302 PM Friday...
Expect any lull Saturday afternoon to quickly fill in during the
evening with lifting increasing, as the elongated upper trof
approaches. Meanwhile, a lingering inverted surface trof, which
extends in the vertical to near H85 across central WV. This
spells havoc with precip type in this region, especially in the
vicinity of the I64 corridor where model soundings indicate
anything from snow to rain to a mix, with a touch of sleet
possible with rain south into southern WV and southwest VA.
Soundings also suggest enough of a low level warm nose along the
eastern slope for a change to sleet and/or freezing
rain...affecting eastern Fayette, eastern Raleigh, eastern
Nicholas. Snow holds areas across the northern mountains,
southeast OH and the northwest Lowlands.
Everything tries to become more consolidated with the surface
system along the coast on Sunday. Precip will taper off across
southeast OH, with mainly light precip elsewhere lingering
Sunday night. Light rain becomes more favored in vicinity of the
inverted low level trof during the day before switching back to
snow as the low level inverted trof becomes eradicated.
Formulating storm total accumulations actually yielded results
close to previous forecast, though a touch lower in the Coal
Fields. As such, we are still looking at mainly an advisory
level event. The exception being the mountains where in
coordination with the near term and surrounding offices, the
watch has been replaces with a warning. The eastern slope
regions mentioned above probably wont meet criteria on snow
alone, but the expected transition to an icy mix warranted the
warning issuance.

Stratocu continues to erode from south to north with VFR
expected to prevail for much of the afternoon. Persistent
localized snow band (induced by local plant/factory) has been
leading to -SN and reduced VSBYs at KCKB. However, that is
expected to end early afternoon. VFR to also prevail this
evening as some mid/upper level cloudiness redevelops. By late
in the night a strong storm system will approach the region from
the west. CIGs will gradually lower late in the night with -SN
developing from SW to NE towards sunrise. -SN should then
overspread much of the region Sat morning, but then mix with
