CARTER COUNTIES...
At 1139 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Carter Caves
State Park, moving northeast at 30 mph.
Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this
storm.
Locations impacted include...
Grayson, Carter Caves State Park, Greenup, Load, Gesling, Greenbo
Lake, Oldtown, Carter, Flatwoods, Russell, Grahn, Hopewell and
Warnock.
This includes Interstate 64 in Kentucky between mile markers 160 and
172.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
this storm passes.

At 120 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Ravenswood, or
near Ripley, moving northeast at 40 mph.
Winds in excess of 40 mph and penny size hail are possible with this
storm.
Locations impacted include...
Ravenswood, Sandyville, Cottageville, Portland, Mount Alto, Lucille,
Peewee, Morristown, Rockport, Leroy and Palestine.
This includes Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 140
and 167.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
