  35 mph. Lander will see much lighter wind speeds.

.SHORT TERM...(Today through Wednesday night)
Issued at 348 AM MST Tue Nov 19 2019

Brace yourselves, winter is on the way. Today will see the final
day of warm temperatures, as the midlevel ridge gradually shifts
to the east of the state. H7 temps of +2 to +5C will translate to
highs in the mid 50s to the lower 60s. One exception will bee the
Yellowstone region, as the leading edge of colder air moves into
the NW corner of the state. H7 temps fall to -2C later this
afternoon, which will keep temperatures in the mid 30s through the
day. This area will also see a chance for a mix of rain and snow
late this afternoon into tonight.

Then the front starts to move in from the north. Initial passage
will arrive around midnight for the northern counties, between 4
and 6am for the central counties, and should be passing the
southern border by 8am. At the same time, the mid and upper flow
will be buckling considerably as the large-scale trough dives
along the west coast. This will turn winds from the south aloft,
drawing in ample upsloping of moisture over the advancing front.
During the late morning and early afternoon, temperatures aloft
will be falling quickly, with initial H7 temps falling to -6 to
-8C. This profile means all precip will start as snow and continue
 through the rest of the day. Peak snow production will occur
 during the afternoon and early evening along a line from the
 Lander Foothills east across Jeffrey City to Casper Mountain.
 This will be accompanied by gusty north winds, so travel will be
 hazardous for most of the state Wednesday. Main issue is the
 upper level support may move off earlier than forecast, which
 would fluctuate the heaviest band north or south, and would
 decrease overall amounts. With current forecast and trends, will
 be hoisting Winter Storm Watches and Advisories this morning.

.LONG TERM...(Thursday through Monday)
Issued at 348 AM MST Tue Nov 19 2019

Conditions will begin to improve Thursday from north to south as the
bulk of the system moves off to the southeast and ridging builds in
from the northwest. Any lingering precipitation should end by late
Thursday afternoon. With a fresh snowpack, Friday morning lows will
be cold with the basins likely in the single digits. Temperatures
will attempt to recover as warmer Pacific air wraps around an
upper high across the northwest, but lower elevations with fresh
snow may struggle to warm up through the weekend. The next system
will reach the state on Sunday night from the northwest. In spite
of the lack of finer details, this does look like another
widespread snow producer to begin next week.

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Wednesday afternoon)

JAC/PNA/BPI...Western state locations will se an increase in
cloud cover this afternoon as the next push of cold air arrives.
Expect westerly winds to continue today, with rain showers in
northwest Wyoming at the lower elevations, including the vcnty of KJAC,
along with snow showers in the surrounding mountains. The front
will move through after midnight, bringing gusty north winds in
its wake. Any wintry precipitation will likely not arrive until
after 12Z Wednesday. MVFR/IFR conditions will occur in the
southwest including KPNA and KBPI through Wednesday along with
mainly MVFR conditions at KJAC. Expect mtn obscn Wednesday.

Eastern and southern sites...VFR to start today for all sites,
with generally light winds noted. Breezy southwest winds increase
tonight for the usual RKS to CPR corridor, reaching 15g25kts at
times. Then the front arrives. Northern sites should see north
winds arrive around midnight in KCOD, 09Z in KWRL, reaching
RIW/LND/CPR around 11Z, and passing RKS around 13Z. Gusty north
winds of 20 to 25 kts are expected through the day Wednesday
associated with the front moving north to south. Snow will develop
behind the southbound moving front, across the north after
midnight. Then snow will increase across central and southern WY
after sunrise Wednesday. MVFR/IFR conditions and mtn obscurations
expected after 12Z Wednesday for the central and southern
locations.

Warm temperatures continue for one more day, with highs in the
50s. Corridor from Rock Springs to Casper reaches 15 to 20 mph
with higher gusts during the afternoon. The cold front sweeps

state, with several inches possible at all elevations.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Western and Central
Wyoming.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

An approaching storm from the northwest will bring rain and snow
showers to the northwest mountains tonight, with a cold front
pushing into northern Wyoming around midnight. Rain and snow
showers will move into the Big Horn Basin before sunrise.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Wednesday morning into early Thursday morning...a cold front will
move north to south through the state early Wednesday, bringing
colder temperatures and accumulating snow to much of the area. The
heaviest amounts are expected across southern and central Wyoming.
Strong north to northeast wind will create hazardous blowing snow
conditions on many roadways through the area.

Monday...another storm system is likely to move through the area
bringing more cold and snow.
