The main severe weather hazards will be damaging wind gusts 60 to 65 mph, along with marginally large hail. At this time, the severe weather threat appears greatest between 4 PM and 8 PM in the northwest Piedmont including the Triad region, and between 6 PM and 11 PM across the remainder of central North Carolina. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. COUNTIES UNTIL 130 PM EDT...
At 1216 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from near Elon to 9 miles east
of High Rock Lake. Movement was east at 20 mph.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.
Heavy rain and deadly cloud to ground lightning will also be
possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include...
Greensboro, High Point, Burlington, Asheboro, Graham, Hillsborough,
Randleman, Siler City, North Carolina Zoo and Thomasville.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Wind gusts as high as
50 mph are capable of knocking down small or weakened trees and
blowing around trash cans, potted plants, lawn furniture and other
light outdoor objects.
Cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
