.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)
Issued at 451 AM MDT Mon Oct 28 2019

There has been some freezing drizzle thru the night from the Pueblo
area southward to around the Trinidad area. Indications are that
the freezing precip should come to an end early this morning.

An upper level trof will be moving across CO thru the day, and will
exit the state to the east by evening. This system will bring
moderate to heavy snow across the mtns, and along the I-25 corridor
this morning, with a few to several inches of accumulation. Snow
will also spread to the southeast plains later this morning and thru
the afternoon, however accumulations are not expected to be
significant.

This afternoon, precip will be decreasing or ending from west to
east across the mtns and high valleys, and then across the I-25
corridor by midafternoon. Light snow will continue into the late
afternoon hours over the far southeast plains. Temps will be well
below average today across southern CO. The San Luis Valley is
expected to see the warmest temps, with readings in the 30s to lower
40s.

Later tonight, the approach of another weather system will bring
snow showers back into the Sawatch and Mosquito Ranges, otherwise
dry weather is expected.

.LONG TERM...(Tuesday through Sunday)
Issued at 451 AM MDT Mon Oct 28 2019

One more winter storm for the CWA to contend with from Tuesday
into Wednesday, with drier conditions in combination with warmer
temperatures then expected from Thursday afternoon into the
weekend.

Initially, recent longer range trends, computer simulations/etc.
project that closed upper low located over eastern Idaho Tuesday
morning is expected to shift into southwestern Colorado by later
Tuesday evening, before traversing southern Colorado from Tuesday
night into Wednesday afternoon in advance of shifting east of
Colorado by Wednesday evening.

This system will bring another round of increased pops in combination
with continued cold temperatures(as evidenced by maximum temperatures
struggling to exceed 25F degrees at locations such as Colorado
Springs and Pueblo both Tuesday and Wednesday) over the CWA from
Tuesday into Wednesday, with the highest potential of more
widespread precipitation(including moderate to heavy snow at
times, favoring higher terrain locations) projected from Tuesday
afternoon into Wednesday morning. At this time, several inches of
snow during a 30 hour to 36 hour period will be possible over
many sections of southern Colorado during this time-frame. WFO
Pueblo will monitor closely and issue highlights as warranted.

Then an extended period of dry conditions should be realized over
the CWA from Thursday into the weekend as dry northwesterly upper
flow develops over southern Colorado with temperatures returning
to near early November climatological averages by Sunday.
