.SYNOPSIS...
An expansive area of strong low pressure will continue moving off
well to our north and east. High pressure will build through late
Tuesday in the wake of this storm system yielding fair weather for
the beginning of the week. A weak low pressure system will affect
portions of the region Wednesday and Wednesday night, then high
pressure will return briefly on Thursday. More unsettled weather is
expected Friday and into the weekend.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/...
Surface low pressure is exiting well to our north and east. High
pressure is moving into the region from the northwest. I am not so
sure we will lose the gust component overnight and in the evening it
still should be strong enough to attain wind advisory status. The
sustained/gusts have come down enough to downgrade the High Wind
Warning to Advisory, but the Advisory has been extended through
9 pm.
Skies will be mostly clear the first half of the night with an
increase in clouds toward daybreak.
Lows are expected to be in the teens to mid 20s, although the
increase in clouds and their timing could ultimately play a
role.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH 6 PM TUESDAY/...
Zonal to slight northwest flow aloft expected tomorrow. High
pressure builds in at the surface. Mid- and high-level clouds are
expected to work through the region. No precipitation expected.
Highs tomorrow will range from the mid 20s across far northwest to
the mid 40s well south and east...mid 30s to low 40s elsewhere.
Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph expected.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
Westerly flow aloft will remain in place through the end of the
week. Meanwhile, surface high pressure Tuesday night will move
offshore Wednesday. A shortwave trough will pass quickly off to our
north Wednesday night. This shortwave will bring the chance for some
light precipitation for our area, however it appears that there will
be some drier mid-level air in place across the central portion of
the forecast area. Latest guidance suggest the deepest moisture
plumes and forcing will remain just to our north and to our south.
Expect to see mostly light snow toward the north and all rain with
any precip to the south. Any precip that develops across far SE PA
and central NJ could potentially be and mix of rain and snow. Some
light snow accumulations around 0.5-1" are possible Wednesday for
far northern NJ and the Poconos, and perhaps a dusting in the Lehigh
Valley into central New Jersey.
The shortwave will push out to sea Thursday morning and high
pressure will return briefly on Thursday bringing fair weather and
near average temperatures. On Friday, another shortwave moves
through the region in advance of a deepening trough across the Great
Lakes. Another round of rain and wind is likely Saturday with a
rapid cool down behind a passing cold front Saturday night into
Sunday. High pressure with origins from central Canada will bring
fair and colder weather Sunday into early next week.

The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.
Tonight...VFR conditions expected. W-NW winds will diminish to 15-20
kt with 20-30 kt gusts this evening, then to 10-15 kt after midnight
with occasional gusts up to 25 kt.
Tuesday...VFR. Remaining breezy. NW winds 10 to 20 kt with gusts up
to 25 kt.
OUTLOOK...
Tuesday night and Wednesday...VFR and light winds. High Confidence.
Wednesday and Wednesday night...Light rain/snow showers with sub-VFR
conditions possible. Light winds. Medium confidence.
Thursday...VFR with N winds 5 to 10 kts. Moderate confidence.
Thursday night through Saturday... Rain/snow showers with MVFR to
IFR conditions possible. NE to E winds 5 to 15 kts becoming W to NW
10 to 20 kts late Saturday. Low confidence.

Tonight...The Storm Warnings have been converted to Gales this
afternoon for all waters. The Gales are expected to persist through
much of the night.
Around the times of low tide this evening (generally 7pm-8pm), we
are expecting tidal departures of 2-2.5 feet below MLLW. A Low
Water Advisory remains in place for the ocean and DE Bay around the
low tide this evening. For the tidal DE Bay, right now is looks as
if departures will be 1-1.5 feet, so will hold off on a Special
Weather Statement for low tide late tonight (generally starting
after midnight or so) for now.
Tuesday...SCA conditions expected. Both winds and seas decreasing
later in the day.
OUTLOOK...
Tuesday night through Saturday: Sub-SCA conditions are
expected through Saturday. Seas 4-5 feet Friday and Saturday.
