.SYNOPSIS...
The frontal boundary stalled out across the area this morning
will lift north of the area today as an area of low pressure
moves across the Midwest region. As this low moves to our north
and into the northeastern states tonight into Monday, a cold
front will move across the east coast. High pressure builds to
our south late Monday into Tuesday A warm front will develop to
our west on Tuesday, before moving into the Mid Atlantic region
by Tuesday night and stalling near the area through the middle
of the week. This front will finally lift north of the area by
Friday, before a cold front sweeps across the east coast later
Friday into Saturday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...

9 AM Update...No major changes to the forecast. We had chance
POPs for this morning over parts of eastern PA that I shaved
back to slight chance. Otherwise trend continues to be for fog
to slowly lift with visibilities generally improving.

Previous Discussion...Low pressure over the Mississippi Valley
lifts to the north and east and into the Ohio Valley later
today. This will push a warm front north through the Mid-
Atlantic and Northeast, and a warm, humid, and unstable airmass
will spread throughout the region.

Locally dense fog is spreading north into much of Delmarva,
eastern Maryland, southeast Pennsylvania, and southern New
Jersey. The fog is confined to areas south and east of the Fall
Line, as mid and high clouds to the north has inhibited fog
development. Fog begins to dissipate later this morning. A
Special Weather Statement is in effect for locally dense fog
until 9 am.

Thereafter, it may be tough for clouds to break up, as guidance
is indicating stratus hanging around for most of the day.
Latest guidance indicates highs today in the 60s to low 70s
north and west of the Fall Line, low to mid 70s for most of
southeast Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, and mid to upper
70s in Delmarva. Temperatures will be cooler at the coasts due
to onshore flow and ocean temps in the 40s to low 50s. However,
if the clouds break up, temperatures may end up being several
degrees warmer.

Some weak shortwaves may spin off out ahead of the main low
well west of the region, and this may touch off some showers and
possible thunderstorms, especially for northern zones in the
area of the departing warm front. Some locally heavy rain is
possible, the strongest weather will hold off until tonight.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 AM MONDAY/...
Low pressure over the Ohio Valley moves into western
Pennsylvania and western New York, then lifts to the north and
east late tonight and Monday. As it does, it will drag a cold
front through the region late tonight through Monday morning.

Some showers and thunderstorms will develop out ahead of the
cold front and will pass through the region this evening, but a
line of showers and strong to potentially severe thunderstorms
will pass through between midnight tonight and daybreak Monday.
During the overnight hours, MU CAPE values will range from
500-750 J/kg, along with a Lifted Index around -2C, and a 65-70
kt LLJ. Thunderstorms will be capable of potentially damaging
winds. In addition, PWATs will be 1.5-1.75 inches. Rain will be
heavy at times, and urban and poor drainage flooding is
possible, especially around the morning commute.

The line of showers and thunderstorms moves offshore Monday
morning as the cold front passes through the region. Thereafter,
H5 trough and strong shortwaves will pass through the region
Monday afternoon, possibly touching off some more showers and
possible thunderstorms.

A tight pressure gradient develops Monday afternoon, resulting
in NW winds 15-25 mph with 25-35 mph gusts. Cooler and much
dryer air spreads into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, with
surface dewpoints dropping from the 50s and 60s into the 30s
late in the day.

Highs on Monday will top off in the 50s and 60s, with the highs
likely occurring early in the day.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Strong winds will continue into at least the evening hours
Monday, before relaxing some overnight as the winds aloft
weaken. Any showers are expected to be ending by the evening
hours, and a dry forecast is expected overnight.

High pressure builds to our south Tuesday, with our area on the
northern side of the high. Gusty west to northwest winds will
remain across the area through the day Tuesday, but likely on
gust in the low 20s. Dry weather will remain in the forecast for
most of the day, although a frontal boundary is forecast to
develop to our west during the day Tuesday, before sliding
toward the Mid Atlantic later Tuesday into Tuesday night. As
this happens, there will be a chance of showers starting later
Tuesday into Tuesday night across portions of northern New
Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.

This frontal boundary is forecast to stall near the area
through Wednesday and Thursday night. As this happens, periods
of clouds, along with a chance of showers will remain across the
area, especially along and north of the frontal boundary as
multiple short wave/vorticity impulses move across the area.
These showers are not expected to be heavy, and no thunderstorms
are expected at this time.

This frontal boundary is forecast to lift north of the area by
Friday, before a cold front approaches the area later Friday
into Friday night. Southerly winds increase during the day
Friday and likely become quite gusty, well withing the 25-30 mph
range, possibly higher at times. Showers and thunderstorms will
be possible all day, however, the most likely period is Friday
afternoon into Friday night.

The front is expected to move offshore by Saturday morning,
however, a secondary cold front/surface trough may cross the
area during the day Saturday, which could lead to additional
showers and thunderstorms.

.AVIATION /13Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Today...IFR/LIFR conditions continue this morning, but then
MVFR/IFR CIGs on tap through this afternoon. South winds 10-15
kt. Scattered SHRA/TSRA possible later today, but bulk of
activity will hold off until tonight.

Tonight...IFR conditions. SHRA/TSRA with strong winds and heavy
rain. LLWS possible as well.

Monday...SHRA/TSRA taper off in the morning, then scattered
SHRA with isolated TSRA in the afternoon. Conditions otherwise
improve to VFR late Monday morning. SW winds 10-15 kt, become NW
15-25 kt with 25-35 kt gusts in the afternoon.

OUTLOOK...

Monday night...VFR conditions and gusty winds continue with
west to northwest winds gusting to 20-30 knots early,
diminishing overnight.

Tuesday...VFR conditions continue. Gusty west to northwest
winds around 20 knots possible.

Tuesday night...VFR conditions expected to continue. Chance of
showers for northeast Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey.

Wednesday...Conditions forecast to lower to MVFR for portions
of the area with a chance of showers for portions of eastern
Pennsylvania and central/northern New Jersey.

Wednesday night...Conditions may lower farther to IFR for
portions of the area with a chance of showers, mainly for
portions of eastern Pennsylvania and central/northern New
Jersey.

Thursday...Conditions improve back to MVFR or VFR during the
day. Chance of showers continues, mainly for portions of eastern
Pennsylvania and central/northern New Jersey.

.MARINE...
Today...Dense fog this morning will result in VSBY less than
1NM. Patchy fog then continues through this afternoon. South
winds 10-15 kt.

Tonight...VSBY restrictions in rain and fog. Thunderstorms may
result in heavy rain and strong winds. SCA conditions develop
this evening and continue through tonight.

Monday...Showers and thunderstorms end in the morning. There
may be a lull in SCA conditions in the morning, but gales
develop in the afternoon. A Gale Watch is now in effect for all
of Monday, but gales will probably not develop until Monday
afternoon.

OUTLOOK...

Monday night...Gale Watch remains in effect into Monday evening
and overnight, before relaxing some late.

Tuesday...Conditions expected to return to Small Craft Advisory
levels early Tuesday, before lowering through the day.

Tuesday night-Thursday...Conditions expected to be below
advisory levels, although winds and waves may increase later
Thursday on the northern New Jersey coastal waters close to
advisory levels.
