* LOCATIONS...Coastal areas of Atlantic County and Cape May 
  County in New Jersey, and coastal areas of Sussex County in 
  Delaware.

* TIMING...From this afternoon into Saturday morning.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one foot of inundation above 
  ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines 
  and tidal waterways. Localized roadway flooding is expected. 
  Some roads may be closed due to high water.

* SURF ZONE IMPACTS...6 to 10 foot breaking waves and very 
  strong rip currents will be a life-threatening danger to 
  anyone who enters the surf.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will produce localized
beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.

Stay out of the surf. If you are ever caught in a rip current,
relax and float. Do not swim against the current. If possible,
swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape,
face the shore and call or wave for help.

A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road
closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to
costly repairs.

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will build in north of our region tonight and remain
there through Friday. Hurricane Dorian will pass offshore of the
region on Friday as it accelerates northeastward and moves away by
early Saturday. A weak cold front will also move through on
Saturday. High pressure will then build into the region and will
remain nearby through much of early next week. By Wednesday, a
frontal system will likely approach.

Clouds continue to stream northward across the area well north
of Hurricane Dorian as it continue to track northeastward along
the east coast. The clouds will continue to thicken and lower
through tonight, and shower chances will increase through the
night as well from south to north as a couple of short
waves/vorticity impulses north of Dorian's circulation moves
across the southern and coastal areas through the night. Low
temperatures will range from the 50s toward the north to 60s
along and south of I-95.

As Dorian continue to move closer to the area, winds will
increase through the night, although they will not be very
strong during the overnight hours. Winds will be higher closer
to and along the coast with sustained winds increasing up to
about 10-15 mph, perhaps up to 20 mph along the coast, by
daybreak with higher gusts.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY/...
The center of Hurricane Dorian will accelerate to the northeast
as an incoming upper-level trough catches it, tracking by our
region well offshore. The hurricane will transition to a post-
tropical system with time as it gains latitude. The main hazards
remain focused along the coast and especially for marine
interests. Wind gusts of 30-50 mph are anticipated closer to the
coast with the highest winds along the coast and especially
over the marine areas. Much less wind is expected as one goes
inland.

The associated rain shield looks to brush the area with the
heaviest remaining offshore, and some guidance shows quite a bit
of dry low- level air trying to advect in on the far western
side of the Hurricanes circulation. This drying along with more
of the focused ascent should result in any inland movement of
the rain shield to shrink back toward the coast during the
course of Friday. The incoming short wave trough though could
assist in the development of some bands of lighter rain or
showers much farther inland. Therefore, PoPs are mentioned
across the entire area however the highest is along the coast
and eastward. Given an onshore wind and lots of clouds,
temperatures will be much cooler. The main impacts will be
dangerous surf and rip currents. The overall conditions will
improve during Friday night given the anticipation of the storm
quickly moving farther to our northeast.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
For Saturday and Sunday...The flow aloft is forecast to turn
more zonal over the weekend. A weak cold front is forecast to
move through later Saturday, however moisture looks rather
limited. This front should slow and then stall to our south
through Sunday. Somewhat of a breeze may linger for a time
Saturday before high pressure starts to build in from the Great
Lakes region. Some warmer air will arrive despite a weak cold
front moving through later Saturday.

For Monday through Thursday...While the flow aloft is more zonal for
awhile, a surface boundary is forecast to be stalled to our south
with some possible energy tracking along it. Meanwhile, surface high
pressure builds across Quebec Canada and down toward our area. This
will result in an onshore flow and some cooler temperatures, however
the chances for showers is of less certainty as it depends on the
timing of any energy aloft along and north of the aforementioned
stalled front. A more notable short wave is forecast to move through
Monday, and this may result in at least some showers especially
across the southern portions of the area. The boundary is forecast
to start lifting northeastward as a warm front late Tuesday and
Wednesday as some ridging aloft builds toward the Mid-Atlantic
region. The associated cold front will move through the region on
Thursday with scattered convection.

.AVIATION /06Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG,
KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Today...Lowering ceilings early this morning. MVFR ceilings at MIV,
ACY, ILG, PHL/PNE and TTN. A period of IFR ceilings is expected at
MIV and ACY mainly later this morning and this afternoon. VFR
ceilings overall at RDG and ABE, however cannot rule out a period of
MVFR ceilings there. Showers or a period of rain at MIV and ACY will
increase later this morning with visibility restrictions occurring
at times, and some showers are possible into the PHL region.
Northeast winds up to 10 knots at RDG and ABE, increasing to 12-15
knots with gusts up to 25 knots at TTN, PHL/PNE and ILG, and
increasing to 15-20 knots with gusts up to 35 knots at MIV and
ACY. Some lower confidence regarding the arrival of sub-VFR
ceilings.

Tonight...Areas of MVFR ceilings improve to VFR from west to east
with clouds scattering out. Any showers end early. North to
northwest winds locally gusty early, then diminishing overnight.

Outlook...
Saturday and Sunday...VFR. North-northwest winds 10 knots or
less becoming west-northwest on Saturday, then light and
variable Saturday night, and west-northwest near 5 knots Sunday.

Monday and Tuesday...VFR ceilings overall. Northeasterly winds 5-10
knots.

.MARINE...
A northeast wind will increase to around 20 knots tonight and
waves will build to 6 to 7 feet. As a result, we have issued a
Small Craft Advisory for all marine zones.

Friday...Northeast winds increase from south to north with
gusts in the 30-45 knot range looking probable. In addition,
dangerous seas will develop and periods of rain is expected. The
winds become north and diminish at night. With the remnant of
Dorian passing close to our southern marine zones, we have
issued a Tropical Storm Warning from Great Egg Inlet NJ to
Fenwick Island DE. Sustained winds of tropical storm force
(34 kts or greater) are expected for a period mid-day with gusts
up to 45 kts possible. Elsewhere, the Small Craft Advisory has
been extended through Saturday morning.

Outlook...

Saturday and Sunday...Northwest winds rapidly diminish Saturday
morning, then southwesterly winds around 5 knots for Sunday.
Rough seas will improve during Saturday.

Monday and Tuesday...The conditions are anticipated to be below
Small Craft Advisory criteria.

Rip Currents...
A HIGH risk of dangerous rip currents will continue through
Friday as the center of Hurricane Dorian passes by our region
well offshore. The large swells and gusty onshore winds will
result in dangerous surf and rip currents. A High Surf Advisory
remains in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday
morning for all shore zones. The conditions are expected to
improve over the weekend.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
A prolonged and gusty onshore flow is expected into Friday night
thanks to Hurricane Dorian offshore. As a result, water will build
up along the coast. Some minor coastal flooding is possible,
especially with the Friday afternoon/evening high tide. The most
likely locations to experience coastal flooding will be Sussex
County Delaware and Cape May County New Jersey. A Coastal Flood
Advisory may be needed for these areas. Depending on the forward
speed and track of Dorian, we will need to monitor subsequent tide
cycles for the potential of additional minor flooding.
