.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Monday. A low pressure system
over the pacific northwest will produce showers and isolated
thunderstorms this evening before dissipating with the loss of
daytime heating and the winds will decrease as well. Some
showers may linger in an upslope flow tomorrow morning. Meanwhile
a dry ridge of high pressure will build into the two state area
this weekend and a warming trend is expected into next week. The
below normal temperatures today will climb into the 80s by Monday.

.LONG TERM...Monday night through Friday...The first half of the
long term will be dominated by a strong ridge building over the West
Coast. Expect dry conditions, light winds and increasing temps
through Wednesday. Expect highs in the lower elevations from the 80s
on Monday to the 90s on Wednesday (upper 90s in Lower Columbia
Basin). Later in the week a combo of short wave features try to work
into the region. The first, a weak disturbance trying to undercut
the ridge Wednesday night into Thursday. This could spread a few
showers and possibly some storms across central OR up into eastern
OR/WA mountains, but overall extent will be limited due to lack of
deeper moisture. The second, a short wave sliding down the west
coast of Canada and likely phase with the initial wave and work into
the northern Rockies Thursday night into Friday. The bulk of
convection will stay east of the CWA, but can't rule out a few
showers/storms across far eastern OR/WA. With the ridge weakening a
bit, highs in lower elevations will trend down a few degrees
Thursday (mid 80s to mid 90s) and again Friday (low 80s to low 90s).
As the cooler air filters into the region there could be some breezy
west winds both Thursday/Friday afternoon/evening.

.AVIATION...00Z TAFs...VFR conditions are expected through the TAF
period. Cumulus buildups and scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening. Brief MVFR
conditions possible under heavier showers. Expect a few
thunderstorms at or near PDT, ALW and PSC through early evening.
Showers should end after sundown and dry conditions expected
thereafter. Breezy west to southwest winds 15-25g25-35kts this
afternoon and early evening will slowly decrease overnight.
