...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM EDT FOR
SOUTHEASTERN VENANGO...NORTHEASTERN BUTLER...NORTHWESTERN ARMSTRONG
AND SOUTHWESTERN CLARION COUNTIES...
    
At 534 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Knox, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
southeastern Venango, northeastern Butler, northwestern Armstrong and
southwestern Clarion Counties, including the following locations...
Sligo, Callensburg, St. Petersburg and Emlenton.

This includes  Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 45
and 60.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

.SYNOPSIS...
Rain chances will continue through the week as several disturbances
cross the Ohio Valley region.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

Area of showers associated with a weak wave currently crossing the
forecast area will remain benign with  with cloud coverage and warm
air aloft keeping instability relatively low (ML CAPE values
<500J/kg). With that...precipitation rates are relatively low so
there are no immediate flood concerns for those locations north of
I-80 where higher rain amounts have been observed over the past day.

Forecast soundings are showing increasing instability aloft over the
remainder of the afternoon, as slightly cooler air aloft overspreads
the region with the passing shortwave. Additionally, cloud coverage
looks as though it will thin out somewhat behind the current showers
during the second half of the afternoon and the 12Z HREF is showing
ML CAPE values approaching 1000J/kg by late afternoon south of I-80.

Although hi-res models have not been consistent with convective
initiation ...with increasing instability and convergence along a
frontal boundary currently just south of the PA/NY border (that will
continue to slowly move south this afternoon)...wouldn't be
completely surprised to see late afternoon/early evening coverage
increase just south of the boundary.

SPC has maintained a marginal risk south of I-80 and increased to a
slight risk along southern fringes of the forecast area. The threat
isn't non-zero as shear and moisture profiles do support organized
convection with damaging winds being the main threat, however, at
this time rapid update model guidance is suggesting too little
instability for a significant severe threat at this time.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
A new surface low is expected to strengthen east of the Great Plains
early Monday morning, and quickly move into the Ohio Valley late
Monday. 500mb model charts display an upper-level trough
accompanying the surface low by late Monday afternoon. Thunderstorms
may once again have a chance to develop if there is enough
instability aloft.

This stubborn pattern will continue into Tuesday.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Although the timing of any shortwave troughs in the general zonal
flow appears to have lower predictability, we know the boundary and
continued moisture will be present. Several shortwave troughs will
cross our region during this time, suggesting convective chances for
most days through the extended period. As the time period for wet
disturbances lengthens, the chances for high river rises and isolated
flooding increases.

.AVIATION /18Z SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Instability continues to be limited this afternoon so have opted to
maintain only VCTS across terminals at this time. After showers exit
east by mid afternoon there will be a brief lull in activity before
shower/thunderstorm chances increase late afternoon/early evening.
Restrictions should be mainly limited to MVFR outside of overnight
IFR cigs at FKL/DUJ as moisture pools in the vicinity of a boundary.

.Outlook...
Periodic restrictions are possible through the week as a frontal
zone sags over the region and interacts with crossing disturbances to
produce frequent showers and storms.

central Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, southwest Pennsylvania, west

Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible this evening with
damaging winds the primary threat.

Isolated flooding is also possible, mainly in areas that typically
see rapid runoff with heavy rainfall.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

Isolated severe thunderstorms and localized flooding will be possible
both Monday and Tuesday.

RAIN WILL AFFECT MERCER COUNTY...

At 443 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Greenville, or
near Sharpsville, moving east at 30 mph.

Wind gusts up to 45 mph are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...

This includes the following highways...
  Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 118 and 137.

Torrential rainfall also is occurring with this storm and may cause
localized flooding, especially given the rainfall that happened
earlier today. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

This storm may intensify, as it warranted a tornado warning earlier
in Trumbull county, so monitor local radio or television stations
for additional information and possible warnings from the National
Weather Service.
