.SYNOPSIS...
Rain chances return today as low pressure approaches. More
widespread rain is expected tonight as the low drags a cold
front across the area. Shower chances and strong wind gusts are
expected behind the front Sunday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
With 9:30am update, continued to slow the arrival of
precipitation moving in from south to north. Although Oakland in
Garrett County remains 30, and some isolated freezing rain is
possible, do not have enough confidence in precipitation
coverage to go with a winter weather advisory at this time.
Previous discussion follows.

A trough is expected to track from the Wrn CONUS to the Upper
Midwest today. Increasing moisture, and weak shortwave support
in SW flow ahead of the trough, should return rain chances to
the area today. Evening RAOB soundings show mid and low level
dry air in place. Models continue the trend of slowing the
arrival of rain across the area, since it will take some time
to moisten the low/mid levels. Further reduced POPs through the
day. There remains a chance of freezing rain in Garrett and
Eastern Tucker counties with cooling upslope SE flow, though
confidence in that occurrence is low with the unorganized, weak
shortwave. Will mention the possibility in the Hazardous Weather
Outlook. Highs should be around 5 degrees above average.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
The upper trough/low is progged to track across the Upper Great
Lakes and Ontario Sunday, as a developing sfc low takes a
similar track. A continued increase in deep layer moisture in
the SW flow aloft ahead of the trough, and stronger shortwave
support, should result in widespread rain across the region.
The low will drag a cold front across the area Sunday morning as
it tracks NE.

Strong pressure rises, a tight pressure gradient, and mixing with
a steep low level lapse rate in cold advection should result in
wind gusts around 60 mph after FROPA. Increasing confidence of
the warning level gusts, with model BUFKIT profiles showing
nothing to prevent the wind from being mixed to the surface with
the steep lapse rate in cold advection. These conditions should
continue through Sunday evening, before winds start to slowly
diminish overnight. Will maintain the High Wind Watch per
coordination with surrounding NWS offices.

Snow shower chances are expected Sunday night/early Monday N-E
of PIT as a shortwave rotating around the main upper low crosses
the region. Dry weather should return Monday and Monday night as
the wave exits and sfc high pressure begins to build in.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
A crossing trough in NW flow aloft should return precip chances
Wed/Wed night. Mainly dry weather is expected Thu and Fri under
high pressure. Stayed close to NAEFS and WPC progs to smooth out
some significant operational model differences through the
period. Cooler than average temperatures are also expected.

.AVIATION /18Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Intermittent brief showers and high MVFR expected through the
afternoon as moisture increases ahead of low pressure tracking
across the Mississippi Valley. Cigs will continue down towards
low MVFR levels during the evening, with steadier rain expected
towards midnight. Low level wind shear will increasing become
concern this evening and likely remain through the remainder of
the TAF period.

A frontal passage will occur towards the end of the TAF period,
decreasing rain coverage. Wind gusts will pick up dramatically
with a synoptic setup in place that should result in widespread wind
gusts over 40kts...and potentially exceeding 50kts at times.

.Outlook...
Ceiling restrictions will ease behind the front. However, extremely
windy conditions are then expected into Sunday night.
