.SYNOPSIS...
Expect showers and thunderstorms to increase overnight with strong
gusty winds as a cold front moves through the region. Temperatures
will return to near normal Wednesday as winds remain breezy.
Warmer and dry weather anticipated for the end of the work week,
followed by breezy and seasonal weather for the weekend and early
next week.

.DISCUSSION...
Evening update: the thunderstorms are starting to develop. Thus
far most of them have been on the fringes of the forecast area,
with some of the stronger storms over northeast Oregon and earlier
coming off the Blues. The storms in northeast Oregon are on track
to start into the southeast CWA shortly. Other activity is
starting to develop closer to the cold front in the Cascades,
while isolated storms are even popping up around the upper
Columbia Basin just west of our radar. Forecast update to account
for the isolated activity developing. Otherwise forecast seems on
track with the bigger "show" developing as we go into the
remainder of tonight into the overnight. /Cote'

.AVIATION...
00Z TAFS: Surface based convection will increase across southeast
Washington into north Idaho EARLY this evening with the potential
for isolated strong storms with gusty winds and heavy downpours,
especially from KLWS to KPUW and KGEG-KCOE. Breezy westerly winds
will develop from the Cascades and across the Basin with gusts of
30kt in the wake of a cold front. Breezy winds continue into
Wednesday with VFR conditions. /rfox.

Hot temperatures will continue today with highs in the 90s.
A cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the Cascades
today and then across the remainder of the region this evening
and overnight. Some storms may produce wind gusts in excess of
40 MPH.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

Breezy and dry conditions will develop for potential rapid spread
of any new or existing fires in the Cascade valleys and Columbia
Basin.

SOUTHWESTERN WHITMAN COUNTIES UNTIL 815 PM PDT...

At 726 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Starbuck, or 18 miles north of Dayton, moving north at 35 mph.

Penny size hail and winds in excess of 45 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Benge and Hooper.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

At 837 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles south of Davenport, or 28 miles west of Cheney, moving north at
30 mph.

Penny size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Davenport, Harrington, Fruitland, Bluestem and Wellpinit.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If on or near a body of water get out of the water and move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close

At 844 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Medical Lake to 13 miles southwest of
Plummer. Movement was east-northeast at 35 mph.

Pea size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these
storms.

Locations impacted include...
Spokane, Coeur D'alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Cheney, Rathdrum, St.
Maries, Dalton Gardens, Kellogg, Pinehurst, Osburn, Wallace, Liberty
Lake, Airway Heights, Medical Lake, Millwood, Plummer, Mullan, Hauser
and Smelterville.
