* WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Nebraska and 
  west central Iowa.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. 
  Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may 
  result.

.SHORT TERM...(Today through Monday)

Unseasonably cold and wet system meandering across the Upper Plains
continues to dominate the dynamics for the mid-section of the CONUS.
Skies have cleared across our area, leaving attention focused on non-
precipitation concerns. The season's first significant intrusion of
arctic air has been enough to produce widespread freezing
temperatures this morning. KOMA is one of the last holdouts. It now
reads 33F. Diminishing winds (holding near 5KTS) are preventing
numbers from hitting rock bottom in the mid to low 20s (near dew
points).

Another round of FROST/FREEZE headlines isn't expected Saturday
night. Once freezing conditions are met, the FROST/FREEZE products
are shelved for the season.

Skies will remain mostly clear for the weekend with partly cloudy
skies possible across the northern tier of counties. Widespread
sunshine will help promote warmer temperatures. 50s are forecast for
all but Knox and Cedar counties each day this weekend. Expect lows
in the 20s north and 30s south.

Temps will be seasonal on Monday with highs in the 60s under
continued sunshine.

A developing low will drag cold front through the area late on
Monday as it sweeps east. Have left mention of showers out of the
forecast as most will fall in central and eastern Iowa as the low
deepens. Temps will cool behind the system but rebound by the end
of the week with highs in the 60s and low 70s.

The forecast's best chance at precip will likely hold off until next
weekend with the expected passing of a Colorado low. This may
mark the beginning of a wetter and more active short-term pattern
with the development of mean southwesterly flow aloft. Until then,
expect a dry forecast.

Winds are forecast to become westerly and increase into the 15 to
30kt range by 15Z and continue through 00Z before settling back to

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest
Iowa...west central Iowa...east central Nebraska...northeast

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Widespread freezing temperatures continue through Saturday
morning. Overnight lows are expected to range from 26 to 32
across all of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa.

Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph will be possible in northeast Nebraska
and west central Iowa on Saturday.

Minor to moderate flooding will continue along the Missouri River
above Lewis and Clark Lake, and from Blair southward past Rulo.
