.SYNOPSIS...Onshore flow, that can be breezy at times, out of the
west-southwest continues along the coast and can be expected to
continue this weekend. This is in contrast to the more northerly
inland areas which can expect the winds to consistently be out of
the north. While cooler temperatures were again seen across the
Bay Area today, warmer weather can be expected starting tomorrow
and gradually increasing each day this weekend.

.DISCUSSION...as of 08:19 PM PDT Thursday...Higher level clouds
provide plenty of cover over the Metro Bay Area this evening.
These clouds are traveling inland as a part of the persistent
westerly flow aloft. Closer to the surface, onshore flow is
providing occasional breezy conditions along the coastline.
Temperatures today were in the 60s and 70s for much of the Bay
Area, with inland areas only reaching a max in the low 80s.
The slow moving trough over the Pacific Northwest will keep onshore
flow along the coastline throughout this weekend. Despite the lack
of rapid movement of the trough, this low pressure center aloft will
begin to erode, allowing tomorrow to begin a warming trend for the
area that should continue through Sunday and into next week.
However, the wind pattern should remain same, keeping the onshore
winds to continue.

.PREV DISCUSSION...as of 1:44 PM PDT Thursday...Aside from a swath of
high cirrus clouds currently moving over the San Francisco Bay
Area, mostly sunny skies are gracing the area. Current
temperatures are running in the lower 60s to upper 70s, with only
a handful of the usually warmest inland areas reaching into the
lower 80s. These cooler than normal temperatures are the result of
an upper level trough centered along the coast. This trough will
persist along the coast keeping temperatures well below normal
through Friday. Although the trough will remain stationary, it
will fill slightly during the weekend allowing a slight warming
trend into early next week. Even so, a persistent onshore flow and
areas of night/morning low clouds will keep temperatures overall
below seasonal normals through the forecast period. Overnight lows
will also remain below normal, with lows in the upper 40s and
50s.

.AVIATION...as of 10:45 PM PDT Thursday...No marine layer today
as an upper low off the Pacific Northwest brings in cooler air
aloft. With a northwesterly onshore gradient...a shallow nighttime
inversion is expected to form late tonight allowing patchy clouds
to form along the coastal hills and spread into the terminals.
Any cigs will burn off early in the morning Friday.
Vicinity of KSFO...Patchy cigs over SFO Bay after 12Z with SCT-BKN
conditions at the airport. If there are cigs it should clear
early around 16Z Friday morning.
SFO Bridge Approach...Same as KSFO.
Monterey Bay Terminals...No clouds in MRY this evening but
onshore winds will allow eventually cigs to develop late tonight.
However the poorly defined marine layer should allow any clouds
to mix out by 16z Friday.

.MARINE...as of 10:39 PM PDT Thursday...An upper trough is along
the West Coast keeping westerly onshore winds firmly in place.
This will keep gusty west winds blowing across the coastal waters
at least through Saturday. Winds will be strongest across the
outer waters and the nearshore waters south of Point Arena,
Pigeon Point and Point Sur. This pattern looks to stay in place
through early next week with strengthening winds off Cape
Mendocino producing fresh northerly seas while a 2 to 3 foot
southerly swell passes through the waters.
