.Overview...Large amounts of runoff from heavy rainfall across our
region 2 days ago is causing area rivers to rise. Many rivers are
forecast to continue rising over the next few days. There is also
a chance of accumulating precipitation Saturday night into Sunday.
However, we look to stay relatively dry throughout the rest of next
week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive cars through flooded areas.  Turn Around...Don't Drown.

A fairly quiet short term is expected as the upper ridge currently
out across the Rockies into the Canadian Prairies will be slowly
settling over the central CONUS.  Today we'll have a surface high
moving through, which will result in seasonable temperatures this

tonight, with return flow setting up, setting the stage for the

weekend continues to slow down in the models, with the heart of the
925mb thermal ridge Saturday afternoon progged to come out of
southern SoDak and come into western up through north central MN.
With nearly full sunshine both today and Saturday resulting in good
mixing did heavily favor forecast highs both days toward the 90th
percentile of the model spread (warm tail). This warmed us more into
the mid 60s for today, with little change from the previous forecast
Saturday. With 925mb temps progged to build to near 22c, still
possible that places out by Madison, MN could see an 80 on Saturday,
with 70s common across our MN CWA and upper 60s in WI.

No precipitation is expected during this period as forecast
soundings both today and Friday are bone dry through pretty much the
entire depth of the atmosphere.  This dry atmosphere will promote
deeper mixing and lower dewpoints in the afternoons as well, so
trended dewpoint forecasts both days down toward the 10th percentile
of the model spread, with afternoon humdities both days falling into
the 20s and 30s, which will help to start drying out our very soggy
landscape.

.LONG TERM...(Saturday night through Thursday)

Guidance continues to slow the progress of the cold front forecast
to sag south across our area on Sunday. As a result, have increased
temperatures Sunday afternoon with 850 mb temperatures of 12-15 C
still remaining overhead ahead of the front. Temperatures in the mid
to upper 70s look possible from southern Minnesota up through eastern
Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin, if cloud cover ahead of the
front remains sparse and we can mix down some of those warmer
temperatures. Cooler temperatures in the 50s and 60s are expected
behind the front across western and central Minnesota. As this front
approaches, scattered showers and a few thunderstorms look initially
possible overnight on Saturday across northern and central Minnesota
as the front. The better chance for showers and thunderstorms is now
expected to hold off until Sunday evening into Monday morning with
the arrival of better forcing aloft. Precipitation amounts Sunday
into Monday look to remain light, with most areas expected to
receive around a quarter inch or less of rainfall.

After this frontal passage, quiet and seasonable weather looks to
take hold through midweek as we remain under weak flow aloft split
between northerly and southerly streams of the jet. Highs look to
remain in the 50s on Monday, but will be on an increasing trend
through the week as ridging builds into the central US. Models then
diverge towards the end of next week with how much influence we see
from the northerly stream of the jet. The GFS & CMC develop a front
and bring it across the area in the Thursday/Friday timeframe, which
would result in our next shot at widespread precipitation, while the
ECMWF remains dry across our area. Will mention low chances for
precipitation at this time.

Radiational fog will burn off quickly this morning, with high
pressure resulting in light winds and clear skies this period.
Pressure gradient will be tighter tonight, with the only place
having the potential for radiational fog Saturday morning being
EAU.

get a little mixing going, they will quickly go northwest.
