12Z issuance...VFR conditions were present at the TAF sites at
issuance and will persist through the day today. Clouds will then
be on the increase this afternoon as a surface low pressure
progresses northward towards the northern Gulf coast. This will
also lead to lowering CIGs and increased shower chances by early
tomorrow morning. Included low-end VFR conditions during this
time, but MVFR conditions are likely into mid-morning tomorrow
with the progression of heavier showers into the area. Winds will
be out of the east northeast through the period. Sustained winds
will generally be between 5 and 10 knots at MOB and BFM; however,
PNS could see slightly higher sustained winds between 10 and 15
knots, as well as some gusty winds between 15 and 20 knots
tonight. /26

NEAR TERM /Now Through Tonight/...A deep upper trof/low will move
east to the lower Plains states late today and tonight combined
with a developing surface trof forming over the central Gulf. With
this pattern most of the model guidance continues to show
increased cyclogenesis over the northern Gulf waters beginning
late tonight continuing through much of the weekend with the main
surface low tracking mostly to the northeast towards the Fl
Panhandle over the weekend. For today expect increasing clouds
for all locations in the forecast area with a slight chance of
showers over the adjacent gulf waters this evening quickly
spreading north and east becoming better organized over most land
areas overnight and early Sat morning. The best chance for
measurable rain through tonight will occur over the western half
of the forecast area mostly in the form of light to moderate
showers spreading north and east through early Sat morning.
Surface winds will begin to build from the northeast due to the
increasing pressure gradient between the developing low over the
Gulf combined with a strong surface ridge still located along the
eastern seaboard and se conus.

Temperatures today, generally ranging from the mid 50s inland to
the lower 60s near the immediate coast, combined with better
clouds and surface winds by afternoon, will help make conditions
still feel more like winter along the northern gulf coast through
this afternoon. Lows tonight will be warmer than the last couple
of nights, though on the cool side, ranging from the lower 40s
well inland and to the lower 50s along the immediate coast.

SHORT TERM /Saturday Through Sunday night/...By Sat the main
upper trof to the west begins to merge with the developing
surface low over the north central gulf leading to rapid
intensification over the adjacent Gulf waters of MS/AL/NWFL late
Sat through Sun as the surface low approaches the FL Panhandle
near Panama city or Apalachicola. With this pattern strong layer
lift or overrunning begins on Sat leading to widespread moderate
to heavy showers occurring over most locations of the forecast
area Sat and Sat night. Rainfall amounts from 2 to 4 inches area
wide can be expected by early Sun morning possibly resulting in
some minor flooding issues mostly in areas with poor drainage by
early Sun morning. Due to a the lack of rain in the last month
leading to mostly dry antecedent conditions across the region
will continue to hold off mentioning any flooding potential from
heavy rain for now but monitor this situation closely. With the
entire area remaining north of the low center temperatures will
continue to be on the cool side through Sat night. Highs Sat will
range from the lower to middle 50s generally from north to south
followed by lows Sat night ranging from the mid 40s well inland
and the mid 40s to lower 50s closer to the coast. 32/ee

LONG TERM /Sunday Through Thursday/...The upper level trof/low
continues to progress from the ARKLATEX region towards the
southeastern CONUS. The low will track over the northern Gulf
through late Monday before moving off the east coast of Florida
into the Atlantic Tuesday morning. At the same time, the surface
low will continue to move northeast over the northern Gulf
Sunday, moving over the Florida panhandle late Sun into Mon.
Widespread rain will continue for the northern Gulf coast through
Sunday, but will begin to decrease from west to east as the
surface low moves further east. Only slight to chance PoPs are
expected for most areas for the start of the work week.

Dry conditions will then return Tuesday as surface high
pressure and upper level ridging build in from the west. These
conditions are expected to last through Thursday; however, a cold
front, associated with a low pressure system over the Ohio Valley,
is expected to advance towards the southeastern CONUS Thursday as
well. This front will then likely pass over the region Friday,
bringing another chance at rain for the end of the work week.
However, model solutions begin to diverge by late week, increasing
uncertainty in exact timing. For instance, the GFS is much faster

compared with the ECMWF. Thus, future model runs will continue to be
monitored for the development of this system.

High temperatures will be below normal Sunday before returning to be
around the seasonal norm (low 60s) Monday. Highs will then be on a
gradual warming trend through the week, being above normal (mid to
upper 60s) by Christmas Eve and increasing through late week. More
comfortable temperatures than we've seen recently are then expected
Thursday, with values in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Low
temperatures will be on an increasing trend as well. Monday morning
lows will be in the lower 40s for the inland areas and in the mid to
upper 40s near the coast. By Thursday morning, lows are expected to
be in the mid 40s inland to around 50 degrees near the coast. /26

MARINE...A strong north to northeast wind flow is expected
late today through early next week in response to a deep area of low
pressure forming over the north central Gulf over the weekend, moving
mostly northeast towards the east Florida Panhandle through early
next week. Hazardous conditions for small craft can be expected well
offshore by this afternoon, spreading north and east tonight through
early next. Gale conditions will also be possible mainly offshore
over the open Gulf waters Saturday night through early Sunday
